Would you get a pair of these shoes on now? I have a friend that thinks its a good way to get fit. I haven't been on them yet, but am thinking about trying it out soon.

Well, I am not good at ice skating, but i used to love roller blades. Those are the same concept, just one is used on ice, and one is used on the ground. Its great exercise, especially because if you are doing it with other people, you dont "feel" the exercise until later. Its fun, and can be done with other people, so you stay active. My problem with exercise, is I always find something better to do. When I am doing it with friends, that helps keep me accountable. If you have never used ice skates before, be prepared to fall (many times) But after you get the hang of it, it will be a breeze!

Thank you for the reply. I do roller skate, so hope that would help me a little with staying upright, but figured there would be a lot of falling. It certainly is something that would be a lot more fun with other people. The other people can pick me up from the ground.

I never understood why i could rolerblade but not ice skate! I guess some people are just more flexible than me! :)

that is something I have never been able to do - my ankles just won't co-operate and turn at an instant. even as a child I could not support myself on the blade of an ice skate - and it looks like so much fun to just glide freely along the surface of the ice - I imagine it is a romantic and spiritual experience.

My husband wants to do it together. I'm hoping he can keep me upright most of the time, as I don't want to spend the afternoon on the ground. Thanks for the reply.

I do not think that I would very much enjoy being in ice skates. I would be worried about falling, I am not very good at skating either so that is one reason why I would be less confident in actually ice skating. I would much rather just run etc, or maybe even skateboard.
