I usually cook on Easter dinner and have my whole family over. But not this year. This is my first year in this house and its really small. Alot of you know we moved and downsized because money was tight. Also its so much easier for me to take of. So my cousin is having Easter dinner and Im going to make some brownies and potatoe salad. Then we have an Easter egg hunt for all the kids. So are you cooking Easter dinner this year?

No special Easter dinner for us Terryz. Just a normal day and no doubt I will probably be cooking :) Sounds like you're going to have a nice dinner, wish I lived near you

So I will taken out for a roast dinner on Sunday, I will be leaving Friday and returning on Easter Monday. They are paying for the weekend for me, what a lovely Easter present, I will with my best friends, beside the Ocean and relaxing and chilling out, what more could I want for Easter? Nope, I won't be cooking Easter dinner this year. My husband and our daughter's will be working. That leaves poor carolbee home alone most of the day..lol Our youngest daughter lives out of state so I won't see her family. I'll probably take myself to the casino and play Keno for part of the day and eat there.

In past years, my mother-in-law traditionally cooked the Easter Dinner. The rest of the family in attendance brought something to add to her hard work. Some brought salad and some brought desserts. The house was full of family, love and warmth. Sadly, my mother-in-law passed away a few months ago. This will be the first Easter with out her and it really feels strange to many of us including me. My hubby and I inherited Mom's dining room table and chairs. This set has been in the family for about 100 years and is very special as it opens up to seat 12. We have had as many as 15 sitting around it though. Yes, we really are a close family.
As for cooking Easter dinner this year, I have offered to do that so we can all sit around Mom's table and keep her memories close to us. I have to work the morning but we could still have a late afternoon dinner. I am just waiting for people to tell me "yes" or "no". I understand that some of the family may not be ready for this step as the loss of my mother-in-law was hard on everyone, especially my husband.

When we lost Pop, we all spent one holiday apart... it was a cold and sad day for all of us. Keep the togetherness going... it gets you past the pain much more quickly. We use the opportunity to tell Pop stories... we laugh so hard we CAN'T cry!

TO be honest the last time I had an Easter diner with all the family was a long time ago. Hubby's family is not very good for get togethers LOL
WHen the kids were younger we used to have egg hunt, and sometimes even now we will hide a few goodies here and there, but not as a traditional egg hunt thing :)
But this year we're actually going to have kind of a family diner. Since hubby's cousin is back from Japan and will be leaving next week, we're going to have diner at hubby's aunt house. It's the closest we can have to "whole " family LOL One part of the family at a time hehehehehe
As for cooking other than one of two of the favorites I'm not going to do it, because aunt tends to make food for a battalion. Way too much food for such a small group, no need to add much to it:)

Hey Terry at least you won't have all the cleaning to do when everyone leaves this year! I'm afraid we are going to have a very quietEaster Sunday this year! Our church is not on as the leadership are all of to a conference, my other half will be working and I can't drive so it will just be the kids and I at home and they'll be too stuffed on chocolate Easter Eggs to care about dinner! lol xxx

Not fair Terry - you should have a nice relaxing time not be on kitchen duty! lol Still I guess if you all pitch in it will be a lot easier and maybe even fun! Don't worry I won't each much chocolate but the kids were up, showered, dressed, rolled their hard boiled, decorated eggs and scoffed a full big chocolate egg and its contents all before 10 this morning! lol Have a lovely day terry! xxx

Hi Terry, I am cooking Easter dinner. Since my mom moved away to Texas a year ago, I have all the holidays at my house. My mom and I use to take turns. I don't mind doing the cooking it's the clean up that I don't like. I hope you have a Happy Easter!

I always cook for all the holidays, but since I've been having problems, I start the entree, whether its turkey, ham or prime rib, and then the kids come over and finish up the rest. Our daughter and her husband are both fantastic cooks (he's our barbecue chef... mmmm!), so I have no problem handing over the reins. We have the biggest house, so its nicest to have everyone here. And they all clean up afterwards! Perfect!

Last year we were in Mississippi so we had my whole family together. This year it will just be my husband, our 22 month old daughter and me.
I have no idea what I will cook. I am thinking of surprising my husband with a pumpkin pie but aside from that, I just don't know.

I am not doing a big easter dinner, no. I have my parents coming over on the easter sunday and so I am just going to throw a few nibbles together. To do a big dinner is just too much for me, cooking for 8, nightmare, plus we have not got enough room around the table so it means sitting with it on knees which I do not fancy doing. It will be a lot more relaxed with everyone just helping themselves.
