I would like to know why the potatoe chips in the bottom of the bag are nothing but crumbs? At first I was eating them and then the light came on. Throw the bag out!LOL Its like people that put the milk or the orange juice back in the refrigerator empty. Do you agree?

Potato chips are my enemy, so, I try to stay away. When I do get them, I buy the baked Lays, and find them less fragile than the reqular ones. But, I agree, when all you have are crumbs, or a drop of milk, or one cookie, finish it off and toss it.

i am wondering if it is just the way that these bags are handled from the factory to the store etc. i also hate the fact that more than half the bag of potato chips is AIR!

Yes this can happen when the bag of chips is used and abused. Tossed around with disregard. It is a violation of snack etiquette to leave only crumbs for the next potential potato chip eater. This leads to only disappointment when anticipating a handful of delicious chips only to end up with a handful of greasy remnants. A reminder of what once was. LOL Although some folks do enjoy those last bits and pieces left at the bottom of the bag. I had a friend that would pour them down their throat with ravenous delight. I prefer cheetos. :-)

Some people save those potato chip crumbs. They are good topping for a dish like tuna casserole. But yes I agree, if people are only going to leave a drop in the jug toss the jug. If they jug isn't completely empty, (drip) rthen they feel it's not up to them to toss it out. people are funny that way.

I hate the bottom of the potato chiop bags. I think when the chip man puts the chips out on the shelves they grab the by the bottom of the bag and then stuff as many as they can on the shelf crushing alot of the chips that then fall to the bottom of the bag and you got crumds.

So you are not one of those people who tip the back towards your mouth and let the crumbs come sliding down into the big shoot? I don't waste a single crisp and I will even eat the crumbs, best part as they are munchy and taste good. I would never put anything back empty, straight into the bin it goes, but save me your crumbs!

potato chips - make potato crumbs fine and coat chicken
You know how the chip bags are full of air, well I push gently on the bags to see how full they are. When find one fuller than the others thats the one I buy. They are filled with air so they won't get crushed. It is better than it used to be. someone on the forum takes and breaks those crumbs up very fine then coats his chicken with them. he said that he then doesn't need to salt them or add oil for cookinfg since the chips have a lot of oil on them. He said that the chicken is nice and crispy with out being oily.

Hi TerryZ, I believe that since potato chips are crispy therefore some of them might be crumbed, and form fragments which would stay at the bottom of the bag as they are of smaller sizes. To me these crumbs taste palatable as well. I always finish them by using a spoon to pick them out.

Terry, I have no idea why the potato chips in the bottom of the bag are crumbs. I also find it quite annoying. Can't they build those potato chips better than that. They are so fragile. LOL

heheheheh my kids do empty milk container back in the fridge thing LOL And get yell at them hehe They always come with : But there was still a little bit there ! I rarely have a chance to get to the bottom of the bag of potato chips. FIrst I don't usually buy, but the worst part is that when I do, the kids always take it from me before I even get halfway !:):):) I guess that they just don't want mom to eat the bad stuff - Yeah right!!!! hehehehehehe

Nope... those crumbs are the best part! Dip the chicken in milk and shake in the bag of crumbs... throw the bag away, and bake the chicken at 375 for 35-45 minutes... you don't even need to salt it! Talk about easy!

Yes, I agree. I hate it when someone puts the milk jug or the juice or whatever it is back into the refrigerator empty! I also hate it when they put empty ice cube trays in the freezer! grrrr! As for the potatoe chips, I got so annoyed with those ity bity broken up crumbs at the bottom of the bag, that I stopped buying bagged potatoe chips! Now I only buy, Pringles or the Lays chips that come in the cans. Still get a few broken chips at the bottom, but they are usually in big pieces and not nearly as annoying as those tiny little miniscular crumbs that you get in the bottom of a bag!

I get annoyed over crumbs in the bottom of the potato chip bag too, though if I have any chip dip on hand I'll dump the potato chip back into the dip and eat it with a spoon. I'm weird like that. I get annoyed with people who put things away empty too, because then I don't know when we're out and need to buy more.

I hate that as well. I like buying a bag of potato chips and a jar of mild cheese to dip them in for a snack once in a while. Never fails for bout 1/2 the bag of chips to end up in crumbs after all the whole ones are eaten. Then I'm stuck with 1/2 jar of cheese dip and 1/2 bag of potato crumbs.

I hate going into the fridge and finding an empty milk carton! I am really bad for refusing to give up my crisp (chip) packet to the dustbin until I have every last crumb out! Just as well I don't eat them too often! xxx

crumbs are at the bottom - as usual but I think it's because it's being moved around so much.
I think it's because of the handlers who handle the big boxes carrying the bags of chips. They're never gentle and most of the time are in a hurry to put them on the shelves and that's how so many of the chips break and then they fall to the bottom.

Just look at it as an excuse to make potato chip cookies. Potato Chip Cookies Recipe courtesy Emeril Lagasse, 2005 Show: Emeril Live Episode: Quick & Easy 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1/2 cup chopped toasted pecans 1/2 cup finely crushed potato chips 2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted Chocolate Sauce, for dipping, optional, recipe follows Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, 1/2 cup of the sugar, and vanilla. Add the toasted pecans and potato chips and stir well. Add the flour and stir to combine. Place the remaining 1/2 cup sugar in a shallow bowl. Form the mixture into small balls, about 1 tablespoon each, and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Dip the bottom of a heavy flat-bottomed glass in the remaining 1/2 cup sugar and flatten the cookies on the baking sheet, dipping in sugar before flattening each cookie. Bake the cookies until light golden brown, 14 to 16 minutes. Using a spatula, transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool. (The cookies will keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.) When cookies have cooled, dip 1 half of each cookie in the chocolate sauce, if desired. Let harden on a wire rack. Chocolate Sauce: 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped 1/2 cup heavy cream 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract Place the chocolate in a medium heat-proof bowl. Bring the cream to a bare simmer over low heat. Pour the cream over the chocolate and let sit for 2 to 3 minutes. Whisk the chocolate mixture until smooth and thick. Add the vanilla and whisk to blend. Use warm for dipping edges of cookies, reheating gently over barely simmering water as necessary.
