Each day I get one or more friend's request in mylot. I approve all. i have no problem in accepting them all. But off late i was noticing that most of the request are from users user rating is 0. it means they are yet to post. But i was thinking at first are they starting to find friend? how hey found my profile?. what is your take on this...

My list of friends is starting to get out of hand. I will only accept a friends request from someone that has actually posted something either against one of my discussions or in a comment on something that I too have commented about. I rarely ask to be someone's friend now unless I want to send them a PM. This may seem harsh, but I don't see the point of having a friends list if everyone is on it! They might as well do away with the category then. I must stress that there is a big difference between being on someone's friends list and being friendly. We should all aim to be the latter. Even if it is a struggle sometimes.

Pikefish you are so right just being on someones friends list is not always being friendly and being friendly is what its all about. I think that most of the people on my friends list were people with whom I had answered discussions.

I usually add those who responded my discussion and those whose discussions appeal to me. Anyway, I think it's not a bad thing to be requested as a friend of others. After all, more choices, more chances to find a real friend.

This does seem to happen at times, and I have also noticed an increase of this lately. Basically these recent members are simply browsing through the site and selecting as many people as possible in order to build a quick friends list in the hope that this will create a huge response to any discussions that they submit.

Hi subha, I do come across this quite some time. I find that many of them just to indulge in starting new discussions but never like to add any comment for any responses. They even find no interest in responding other people’s discussions. After some time they will even disappear themselves totally. I did delete some of those avatars, which had remained inactive for months long, with rating below 10. I always appreciate all mylotters who are steady and persistently stay here though they might leave for a short period for some other business.

I accept all friends' requests. We were new members before. If at that time others denied our requests because of this reason. Would you feel disappointed? So no matter who he/she is, I add them all to my friends.

Well for a start India has the 2nd highest amount of users from a certain country only just behind America. So maybe these users have joined Mylot and looked for fellow country members and have found you that way.

I used to accept everyone right off the bat, but, lately, I haven't been accepting friends requests from people who have not yet made a post. I am getting a little pickier about my friends. In the past, I used to get a lot of requests from people with only 0 posts who only wanted to add me to their spam list.

I see no harm in adding new friends, and if I see a discussion I really like , I will ask that person as well. I just think it gives you more choices, for variety of disucssions.

I have never been requested to be on someones friends list. should I be sad that I don't have any friends? But then again I haven't posted that many responses on the board either. Maybe I am not sociable enough in the my lot community. Now that I think about it I have one good friend in real life and that is about all I can handle. If I get too many my lot friends a may go crazy. Or I may feel needed and my opinion may be worthy. By the way I love the site I usually just read what other people think.

en, that's a interesting question. I think, they find you when looking through the posts. Though they have not posted any disscusions or repsonses, they are free to read others' threads. If you responded some disscussions, they might find you. Also, you have a high rating, more than 5500, and that might attract some newbies' eyeball. I still remember I always chose the members with high ratings when I was a newbie. At least, you are a poplular mylot guy! That's great! Have a nice day!

May be. Do you have problems being a friend apart from being a Mylot friend? You have been here at mylot for quite a long time.Ur rating is over 5000.. so may be people look for someone to guide them.. Or may be your interests match with their interests and they want to be updated when you start a new discussion. Being new to mylot they may look for a friend over here. and since you are very popular here.. so they must have chosen you. Even i look for profiles of girls and i do add them if our interests match.. So am i doing something wrong? Its not to worry yaar.. no one is gonna harm you here. Hardly anyone knows about you in reality..

yes, I have noticed this lately too - wondering if it is a new trend. IT struck me oddly that they would be so new as to have not yet participated in a discussion but are making friend requests. I am a little paranoid that they want the "friendship" in order to spam my account.

Does the users that have a rating of 0 have a profile and if they do what is on it? You could always ask them why they wanted to add you.
