Do you do this? If you don't, what is your reason?I do it all the time but I guess someone I know is adamant that it not be done when using their dryer. I don't know why not...? Any thoughts? I've done a little searching online and couldn't find where it is a fire hazard or that it affects the efficiency of the dryer.

I sometimes leave a basket of clothes sitting on the dryer if both machines are full, I only have one basket and have to rotate between loads.

I really try not to do it, but not so much because it shouldn't be done, but because if there are clothes on top of the dryer, they will a.) eventually end up in the litter box that is on the floor next to the dryer and b.) they obviously aren't put up where they belong. I have never heard of it being detrimental to the machine to have anything sitting on top of it. I will have to do some checking around on that as well, especially since I just paid my washer and dryer off.

I don't have clothes on my dryer but I have all sorts of everything else. My washer and dryer are right at the door used to go in and out of my place so I put things on it that I want people to remember to take with them when they leave. It can be anything from books and magazines to dishes and food!! The grandkids sometimes put their coats on the dryer when they come in since they immediately take their coats and shoes off when they come in the door if they are staying any amount of time. I have a blanket that has been on there for the longest time that I keep forgetting to take to a friend to make into one of those blankets that have the knots tied on the edges!!

I've never really paid much attention to it, to be honest. I don't think it's that big of a deal and the only time I avoid having stuff up there is if I want the place to look neat and have company coming over...I don't want random items piled around.

Hi above31, my microwave oven sits on top of my clothes dryer and I have never had a problem with it...Maybe your friend just doesn't want any scratches on their dryer....

I don't now, but mainly because the dryer is in a cool, dusty basement and I don't want to leave clothes there period. I can't imagine their being any hazard to doing so. It's not like they clog up the lint filter or anything.
