On top and bottom or just on top?

Ok, get your minds out of the gutter people I am posting under cooking. When you are making a pot pie, do you put a crust on the top and the bottom or just the top? I only ever put a crust on the top. Call me lazy, but I just do. What about you? On top and bottom or just on top?

Every once in a while I will make it with both. It is definitely preferred by my husband to have both, but I tend to leave it out to cut fat and calories. I also have always had a problem with the bottom crust getting soggy, but I think I will try what teri suggested and bake it a bit first. Thanks for posting this. Now I think we will be having pot pie this week.

I guess it is part lazy and part wanting to cut out some extra fat that I only do one crust.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMM chicken pot pie...sadly NO one in my family likes this dish except me :( so i dont get it too often (unless i buy the ready made ones!!) but i love the whole 'pie' experience, so the crust HAS to be on both the top and the bottom!!

My son does not really like it either. He loves the crust that I make for it and he will eat the chicken and potatoes, but he avoids the carrots, onions, and celery.

I usually make mine with chicken, but the chicken is really not necessary it is so good without it.

We like the crust on top and bottom lily. I bake the bottom crust a bit before I add the filling, then add the top crust and bake the pie. Once the pie is completely baked, we like to mix it all up and the crust on top is just never enough, so, we like to have both.

I always stir mine up too, and I wish there was more crust. The crust is one of the best parts.

I like it on top and bottom but alas old hubby just likes it on the bottom so we compromise. If it is a beef pot pie or chicken I put crust on the bottom and mashed potatoes on the top.

I use to put one on the top and bottom when fat and calories weren't my concern. This year only the top would get a low fat crust. I like chicken, turkey, and beef pot pies.

If I'm making it myself I put just the crust on the top. Seems easier that way. Now if I'm buying one at the store, I love the ones with crust on the bottom. Marie Callender's frozen pot pies are excellent. I wouldn't recommend them often because of the calories, but when they go sale, definitely try them.
