What will you act when your spouse says negative words about you?

Lately I bought a dancing carpet at home to do some exercises at usual. My husband saw it and said I had a terrible dancing look. He teased that fortunately we had no daughter. He couldn't believe if our daughter danced like this Well, I think sometimes I have a high EQ in this aspect. I know my husband likes to tease me sometimes. He does it for fun. So I don't mind it at all. Sooner or later I can tease him when he needs my help. In order to give him a lesson, I ask him to have a try. And he didn't dance better than me. Actually he made all the dancing settings in a mess because he didn't know how to play it yet.

I don't take to teasing well.If I were married and my husband said the same exact thing to me, he would be locked out of the house until he Really apologized. And I don't mean a bouquet of flowers and a " I 'm sorry" but I real apology. This is why you are happily married and I am not married at all. But then again any guy who wants to stay with me will know that I take teasing seriously, I mean if you say it, you must really mean it or why would you say it? So saying something mean spirited Must mean you don't like me.

But sometimes we don't have to be so serious to it. Just take it easy and you will be happier

OH! It is not good that your spouse discouraged you through his negative remarks. He should not have. You see it is very easy to say negative words about anybody ....but it is difficult to appreciate someone. And you must tell your husband that little appreciation does wonder to one's confidence (in this case your) and performance. I would say, you please continue with your exercise and dancing carpet.....you purchased it after giving it a serious thought, so please do not feel guilty about it. Enjoy it.

I don't mind my husband's negative words to me as it needs some time for him to learn that pleasing a wife is better than making her mad

If both of you can laugh at what he is saying, then it is okay. Something is a joke only if all the people involved find it funny. You of course know him well enough to know that he is teasing, and you can tease him back.

You dealt it very well, youless, he would be cautious the next time he teases you!LOL! I am glad that you people do it just for fun and don't take it too serious but in a way it should be taken between relationships. I liked the way how you turned an apparently negative looking thing into a positive fun thing, I really appreciate! We do tease each other, youless, quite a lot, but like you, all in fun. But, our teasing is not about negative words for the other. I don't know if I have understood it right or saying it right but we do tease without saying any negative words or at least we don't mean anything negative. We both know each other and we enjoy it a lot together. None of us has 'ever' taken it as an offense because I know that she is one of the sincerest and loving person to me and she too knows very well how I feel about her.

Hi.. Im not married yet but in my relationship with my boyfriend, I dont mind him telling me negative things. Though he said those things in a funny way or teasing me. Its like giving me an opportunity of becoming perfect, though I know no one is perfect. Its good that your partner see your flaws and what matters is he accepts and loves you despite of everything, right? =)

Hello dear youless. Nice to read your new discussion again. Well, if my partner says something negative about me, it would depend on how serious it is. If it is just for fun, I would not mind about it at all. But suppose she is really serious about it, I would like to talk to her about that issue. . .
