Where should kids learn, school or at home?

For me, both are relevant place for learning. It just everything starts at home where parents taught us how to do things, say things and deal with things. It is our parents who is the major responsible for our well-being. Whatever our parents taught us mirrors our future. Thought it depends on our hands what destiny we would like to make.
For the second part, school is the place where we learn together. We do a lot of common things in school like reading, writing, listening and speaking. This helped us to grow more and to earn more knowledge that we can use as we get older.
Therefore, both are learning places - home and school.

Parents don't realize that from birth they are teaching their children. We are responsible for teaching our children how to go to the toilet, walk, talk and so much more. My mom taught me to read before I was 3, and had me baking by the time I was 4. She was extremely involved in my education. I went to public school and was well educated there (though frustrated at the education rate and how things were taught).
Too many people who really aren't qualified keep their children at home and "home school" the kids. I see too many cases where the children who should be in a 7th grade class actually have the education equivalent to a 3rd grader. The parents don't have the time to sit and work with the children for the number of hours of instruction that they would receive in public school. It worries me about what kind of adults these people will become. One little girl I know doesn't ever want to read. She has crying fits if she thinks that she is supposed to read a book...I spent my life with my nose in a book reading everything from history to sewing and craft books to whatever my interests led me to. I feel so sorry for the child that hates to read that much-and she wants all the expensive things in life, including a corvette!

Thank you so much Loverbear for sharing your experiences about my discussion particularly what is actually happening in our society. It is just so bad that parents does not realize in the first place while in fact, they also become children before. It is also good to hear that your parents are so responsible nurturing and teaching you good things. I am glad you are one those blessed in the world. :)

I agree with you! I think kids should be taught not only at school, but also at home.

Thank you so much Kelly for taking time reading my discussion and agreeing with the fact the education is learn from both home and school.
I was really blessed to have my parents as my parents because they thought us how to be good citizens. I treasure every moment that I was with my parents more than in school. Haha. Because sometimes, my teacher does not make sense. Only sometimes. Yay :)

I agree with you. Both home and school are important for children to learn. They learn the basics at home and their education is (or should be) enhanced at school but still enforced at home. It is apparent that many school children have not been educated at home and that is sad. They need to have positive influences from both home and school to prepare them for later life.

I agree with you. Learning starts the day we are born and the foundation that is put down during those early years can help a child once he or she enters formal school. Learning is really a life-long process and hopefully, parents and educators will show kids that just because they graduate from school does not mean that learning ceases.
