Hi everyone!!! I am looking for honest opinions on this question. I am hoping to find out why people really want to learn English. Is it because you want to or because someone else wants you to. Try to make your responses organized and they should be at least three paragraphs (anyone who has taken CET or TEM tests will know what is needed. Write as if it were one of these tests (or any other writing test you may have taken). Good luck and happy writing!!!

That's so easy to answer I believe. America the free where all people want to be. Rid the dictators and let people be free then everyone can live like we do here.

Hi.. I would say when I was at pre school, I learned English not because I want to but because I was obliged to do so. You see, the mode of teaching in the Philippines is English aside of course for the Filipino subject we had at school. As I grow up, English is the way of life that I have to embrace since Filipinos have this mentality of speaking fluently English than their own language. At present I would say, I did not regret that I learned the language since people here in DK speaks differently. It is the only language that bridge me to Danish or any foreigners.

I understand how it must feel to have to learn something you are not interested in (it seems like a lot of my students last year felt that way about taking English classes that were required to graduate). So it is actually helping you? I hope that everyone would see that aspect of life. Have a great day!!!

English - English is the de facto world language and that is unlikely to change any time soon. Even if the United States was not the largest economy in the world, English would still be preferable to most other languages.

English is unique among world languages in the richness of its vocabulary. There are simply more words in the English language than any other due to the history of its development as a product of the fusion of Latin, Germanic and Celtic languages.

Consequently, English is more adaptable and more capable of expressing fine nuance and precise meaning than any other language.

This is so true!!! It also seems to be a lot easier to learn than Chinese (which my brother tells me may become the next language to learn because there are so many people in the world that speak it and with their economy growing, it may become necessary).

I am learning English since I was ten and I think few years ago, you cannot really tell. My English was really horrible, but I am getting better from one day to another. English is important for me, because it is international language and also I am living now in us, there is no other way how to communicate with them. But not only that , I love to learn different languages , so i can communicate with people around the world.

Laurika, I wouldn't worryabout not being perfect. It takes time. The big thing is, don't be afraid to open your mouth and communicate. You will never know how to say something right if you don't say something wrong whenere someone can correct you. Have a great day!!!

Yeah, you are so right. Sometimes we just worry to much if we are correct and etc. but it is not worth it. You have to open your mouth if you want to learn something.
