Doomsday True or not?

Frakly i am a science grad so therefor do not much take to heart the religious prophecies of doomsday.but in every legend there is a kernel of truth. it does not matter to which religion you belong, because nearly every religion prophecies doomsday. but lets take the science angle. what does science tell us? that it is a fact that we are in between ice ages, kind od like an intermission between last ice age and the next one.the current gap corealates to a previous gap between the ice ages of roughly 28,000 years.in short an ice age should have already started but has not yet! we are already overdue for one. to top this we may also be in for an asteroid impact soon, the kind we usually see in movies. scientifically,if you put a ball in space, and there are a lot of loose particles sharing the same space and these particles are in random motion, then the chances of that ball getting hit with these particles are quite high, and getting hit repeatedly,as of now,2004 MN4 an asteroid discovered by astronomers has a 1 in 45 chance of hitting earth.to date this is the closest a huge asteroid has come close to posing actual danger. what this highlights is that in the near future there may be such other asteroids gunning for earth.that is inevitable.it is just a matter of time. there are many ways of avoiding such impacts and the scientists in liason with nasa are working on this. but according to mayaan scripts found on thier pyramids, the doomsday is supposed to be somewhere around end of 2012 as per mayan calculation.which is why thier calenders end on that day. The Maya believed that their world would end on Dec 21, 2012. But what will happen? A global cataclysm is one possibility. an asteroid impact or even a magnetic reversal. we are sure lucky because we are overdue not just for one event but three, the third being magnetic reversal of poles. a magnetic pole reversal is when the poles of the earth change polarity. north becomes south and vice-versa. as a result of this is just before the poles change polarity earth will be open to all the galactic winds, that is we will not have our protective magnetic cover for some time before the poles come back online again. as a result of this we will be exposed to harmful if not fatal radiation,as well as earthquakes and last but not least volcano erruptions. we are alreay LONG overdue for a magnetic pole reversal. so we are three times likely to see any one of these events play out in our lifetimes. hope is our succor and we should all hope that the said dooms day does not happen in our lifetimes. i welcome comments and discussions on this. thank you and have a nice day

I think their are certain things that could make doomsday possibly happen. But honestly, I do not think it will happen. I just have faith that this will not happen. I hope it doesn't happen :)

I am actually very intrested in this subject I have done a lot of research and saw the documentry on national geographic chanell about this date. And I must say it is very intresting but at the same time pretty scary since a lot of people way back then predicted that something will happen on this date which I dont really beleave anything will happen but the day before I know I will be scared about what could happen the next day.

Oh scorpius I always thought doomsday was just a myth and you mister, just opened my eyes! I had no idea we were actually overdue on three major disasters..oh heavens, now we sure have to worry about doomsday alongside Global Warming!2012?! That is ust 5 years away and I've not even lived half my life..lol Are you sure all this is true and is supposed to happen? You just scared the hell out of me scorpius!

I guess nothing lasts forever and sooner or later our world will end. You only have to look at the way the weather patterns are changing, global warming and the depletion of natural resources. Volcanos erupting, earthquakes shaking the earth's crust, tsunamis and hurricanes, it all seems to indicate that something is not right with the earth. I doubt if anything mankind can do will stave off the inevitable but it's unlikely to happen for thousands of years.

all the famous predictions includes the signs of the end times such as deadly airborne viruses, deadly flesh eating viruses, deadly diseases to animals, livestock, cows etc...now the bees are dying and we don't know why!more earthly disasters were also predicted all of which by the way is coming true!if you check you will see man is now getting worse than say 20 yrs ago!now serial killing is common place, killing period is now not as big a deal as 10 yrs ago!the signs are all there that the end time is here!
