Are you crazy enough to run in the streets of Spain with a raging bull?

I cannot understand this at all, I do not know what goes on in people's heads when they decide that they will run in the same street as a bull. What were they thinking? ARe they that much of an adrenalin junkie? Wouldn't it be alot safer to get a rush some other way, for instance, parachuting would be alot safer option. Is it worth the risk of dieing, for a few short minutes of thrills? What are your thoughts on this? Would you do it? Have you done it? What do you think is the biggest reason these people put themselves in this crazy event.

Im stupid crazy if i did that...NO way! I think those persons are have an obsessiveness in doing or trying insane harmful things like that. There curiousities lead them to decide doing harmful stuff. OR they do that for sidelines to earn extra income.

Jallikattu - The ancient Tamil sport Jallikkattu is still conducted annually in the villages of Tamil nadu.
One mans food is another man's poison. You wont be knowing what the Spanish crazy with us.Each and every country has some sports from time immemorial like this. Please have a look at the bull fight in Tanil nadu India. The ancient Tamil sport Jallikkattu is still conducted annually in the villages of Tamil nadu.In ancient time the one who subdues the bull only can marry the daughter of the owner of the bull.Isn't this the culmination of the valor and love.

I agree this is a crazy tradition. Why risk your life like that? Mostly I feel sorry for the animal. They make fun of it only to kill it in the end. That's a cruel thing to do.

Hi wisedragon, I agree it is a cruel thing to do, killing the bull in the end. BUt do they do that in the street running event or the bull fighting only?

Why are people driving drunk behind there wheels, why are people doing extreme snowboarding, skiing, scubadiving, so many other extreme sports. You can not give an answet on that, it is an tradition, people like it and just do it for the kick i think. The kick to think that they can beat the bull.

I did not mean to offend you. I was just trying to understand how people could risk their lives, I would not like to lose anyone I love because they chose to get some thrills running with the bulls.

The Bull run has become the most popular part of the San Fermin Fiesta, which is a part of Spanish religious culture dating back to the 12th century. Quite why people choose to run with the bulls, I don't know, but it's a part of their beliefs I guess, and who are we to question? Today, many of the runners are tourists, so they must have another reason for putting themselves at risk, as you say, probably a rush or something. I guess the reason why it's allowed to go on is because a lot of money is made from the tourists. Whatever... you will never find me in there with those bulls! Brightest Blessings.

Yes I understand it would bring loads of tourists to Spain, I just cannot understand the sport. Far too danergous and risky.

I, for the life of me, can't understand why anyone would do this. You could save a whole bunch of money and energy by stepping in front of a bus....it'll have the same effect. I am not into any of those extreme pastimes that people pass of as fun. I'm quite happy with my couch and computer, thank you.

Yes I agree the couch and the computer are far better options. Atleast you can't get brutally injured on your computer. Wise choice.

It's the cheapest, a free, way to get your adrenaline pumping. Although I do feel sorry for the bull I would do it for the thrills. I don't think I'd die from it, the worst that could happen is a few broken bones. Doesn't scare me, seems like a lot of fun running around like an idiot with masses of people. :D

OMG you are a very brave person. You have tough skin, can't believe it does not scare you, can I ask what is your biggest fear then? Broken bones even would be enough to stop me from running with bulls. I actually have a friend where a bull attacked him in the paddock once. His spleen was totally shattered, now he is on medication for the rest of his life. I guess that is why I also think it would be crazy to run with the bulls. Please don't take offence to my opinion. I appreciate your honesty and views.

Actually I really don't like watching it. It's too dangerous. Besides, I am sad for the bulls. It's so violent for me.

I am with you, I could not watch it either or participate in it. I am sure the bulls in this event don't mind, it is probably party time for them, as these people are running away from them in the streets not trying to kill them.

I do not see the point of any of it at all, and I always feel desperately sorry for the bull. I could not watch any of these events at all. I think it must be the adrenalin rush they get, thats all I can think, well they can keep their adrenalin because I would rather do something a little less hazardous to my health!! But there again I am not the most adventurous person in the world!!

Hey I never looked at it from the bulls perspective, it is not fair on the bull to be tormented. On the other hand he probably think it's christmas time with all those targets running on the street, lol. Yes I agree it is probably the adrenalin rush they are seeking.

Nope never would do it. How could i take such an avoidable risk with my life. when life is so risky as it is.This practise has always amazed me not only are they trying to avoid being trampled by the bulls but also being trampled by other runners. This seems a little crazy to me.

You are right there are already so many risks in life, this is one risk definately not worth taking. I forgot about the risk too with being trampled by hundreds, thousands of people, good point you mentioned there.

Well running the streets of Spain with a raging bull is not on my to do list. I doubt that it ever will be. I would never take that large of a chance on anything like that. Truthfully what is the point of losing your life for a little excitement. I understand life is short but why make it shorter. I know some really crazy people that might do it but i do not understand there logic. What reasonable logic could ever be behind practicly killing yourself for a game?

Well, it's an interesting cultural thing that they keep up because it draws tourists. I personally wouldn't do it, though. I hear that most of the local people just sit inside and watch the crazy tourists through their windows. If I had to do it, I'd rush in at the end, whack a bull, and move off to the side. The worst thing is to be in the part where they are released, nobody hangs out there I've heard :).

No I wouldn't do it. First I am not very fast at running and second I fall way too easily. I think my life is more important to me then getting such a thrill. I know with my luck I would be the one that would get run over by it. So that is not in my things to do before I die list!
