The popcorn habit...

My daughter has gotten into the pocorn habit when we go to the theatre. She only does this with her dad or Uncle"B". When she was about 2 they would take her to a movie. And "B" would get the large popcorn. And she will sit there and eat until you take away the bucket. Her daddy gets her popcorn if she asks, Or some other treat. So now when we go to a movie together, she sits politely in her seat, then asks"where is is my popcorn, please" and one or the other jumps up and obliges her. She does not do this with me..anyone else have this situation?

I do not really like to buy anything when I go to the movies. Their stuff is overpriced. However, I have been broken to the habit of buying even the outrageously priced bottled water if my wife asks for it. It is just one of those impulse buys that the movie theater counts on, I'm afraid. My daughter sits in the middle with a tub of popcorn. Sometimes we share. She can be good about that. But then, there are other times when she feels a bit gluttonous. I have asked her if daddy can have some of the popcorn and she covers it up saying that she's going to eat it all. I know she's really playing, because she gets a maniacal gleam in her eye -- just like I do when I'm teasing her.

She sounds cute..lol..You know when we go to theaters or movie houses we really got used to having a popcorn and coke while we watch. I guess your kid just expected it to be like that always. It's not a bad thing though..and she did say please didn't she? hehe

Awww that is adorable! How old is your daughter? I think she does this because she has come to expect it when she is with them. lol You (I am assuming) never did that when you were with her, and so this is the reason she doesn't expect it of you. I think when she asks for the popcorn if you don't want her to have it, they need to tell her before going to the movie that there will be no popcorn today. I do think that is precious though. Good Luck

I dont see anything wrong with eating pop corn at the movies. I wouldn't expect you to go the theatre that often that this would be bad for you. I do think it is impolite when children come to expect a treat as a routine. I think she asked very politly and the theatre is supposed to be a treat anyway.

oh I love popcorn,,,even when I would just watch TV and thinks that I would watch for hours, I would pop a big pack of it in the microwave, sit and eat away all of the popcorn.

My God,that's not a good habit. You know there is lead contained in popcorn. It's not good for health, especially for the growth of a kid.You must help her quit this habit.

That is so cute and funny. I can understand where you are coming from though. Does she think her mommy will not get up and get her some popcorn or something. Maybe she is just spoiled rotten from her dad and unlce "B". Maybe she likes for them to give her attention. She may like for mommy to get it for her too, but maybe daddy and uncle "B" is making her feel grown up or special LOL.

It sounds like her dad and uncle got her into this little habit and she knows that they will always get up and get it for her. It does sound really cute though. She probably doesn't do it with you because she knows that you won't jump up for her everytime and the others will. I hate to say this but even as an adult there are still some things I would never go to my mom with but would go to my dad for. Heck, when we were shopping a few weeks ago even though I had money my dad gave me $5 to go get myself a smoothie. It made me smile because for just that second I felt like a kid again, LOL!

Well, it is not really a healthy habit to watch a movie and eat oily things. For one thing, you put on a lot of weight and for the other, it is bad for the heart. And this could develop into a "difficult-to-break" habit later in life. I really think Uncle "B" and Daddy should refuse to obey the sweet requests. LOL Cheers and happy Mylotting.

My son gets popcorn every time we go to the movies. He always has, so he is used to it. I have never not gotten him popcorn. Yesterday when we went I got a large popcorn. He ate most of it himself and got a free refill on it when we were leaving. By the time he went to bed last night most of the large popcorn was gone again. He ate close to 2 large buckets of popcorn by himself. He is a little popcorn fiend.
