Oh Today I just Don't Know Where To Start! Help!

After having had a wonderful weekend away with my son and one of my daughters I returned to a very busy work day yesterday where I never arrived home until 11pm so have so much to do today that I don't know where to start. So far I have managed breakfast, one load of washing washed and hanging out to dry and I am sat here looking around thinking I have so much to do but I really can't be bothered. I have to be as I have visitors over tonight but just so tired. I also need to get down town to collect a parcel that I missed cos was at work yesterday. Do any of you just get days where you feel like this and really can't get stuck in even though you know you should. I'm also trying to play catch up on all the wonderful discussions I have missed on MyLot over the weekend too, which I prefer doing much more than housework! So where should I start? Ellie :D

I had one of those days yesterday and today is starting to go the same way. Except I have a headache from spending too long looking at the computer screen. I have a load of washing on, but the lounge needs tidying and vacuuming, the hallway and landing need hoovering and I am not sure whether the sheets on our bed can wait another day or not. I need to go and buy some new trousers and I must write my Thank you cards from the weekend. Or perhaps I'll just stay here with the coffee I have just made, and play a little longer. You are not the only one.

The sheets on my bed are a definate tomorrow job as I didn't sleep in them over weekend so they can wait eh! You have just reminded me, thank you so much, that I have to get some acceptance cards for an anniversary and wedding that I have been invited to so will grab those whilst collecting parcel. Just had a cuppa and a think, read responses and have a little bit more enthusism now. Thanks. Ellie :D

Oouch, taking daughter into town will probably cost ya if she is anything like my daughters, they always see something they just must have! Enjoy the sunshine, it is lovely out. Ellie :D

I have just hung the washing out and discovered that it is quite warm out. So shall take daughter into town later on. But have forgotten to order some flowers to send to a friend in hospital. Work was way easier than this (not)!

Start with the discussions and while you are thinking of answers, start to some housework too! I only got two hors sleep on Monday and still need to get to sleep, so I do know what you mean! I will sleep after this, I am reaching the end of my Monday even though it is April now and Tuesday! Yet it is three in the morning. I will wish you a great day and watch out for all those tricks waiting for you! Happy April Fool's day!

Hi Olivemai, its 11.07 here in UK so they only have 53 minutes left before noon to play a trick. Happy April Fools Day to you also. I'm going to make a cup of tea now and put another load in the washing machine and flit back and forth from discussions to housework. Hope you get a decent sleep. Ellie :D

I did finally get a good night's sleep! Thanks for that, and I am glad that you can multi-task to get some work done while you are waiting for webpages to load! Did you mean it was almost midnight? Or was it noon?

Hi Olivemai, Noon here in UK you can only play tricks until noon or else it is not considered an April Fool. Glad you eventually got some sleep. Ellie :D

Haven't we all just been there eh! LOL. Well just made a cup of tea and put another load in machine and am deciding which jobs are a priority. Think I'll collect parcel before I take my little one to nursery and then come back and get stuck in on the lounge and kitchen, can shut the bedroom doors and do them when I have more energy eh! Gonna hide the ironing pile too. Have also decided to do a casserole for dinner so I can just whack in oven on slow cook and forget about it until ready to dish up so getting there. Thanks for advice, its working. Ellie :D

oh yes I have had many days like that, when I had to be out all day.. but even here on the internet, I work all day and start with 400 emails, and by the end of the day I am still at 400 at night or even more.

Winterose thankyou for making a difference because I do realise how many emails you do receive not just via mylot but from other sites too and the fact that you have taken the time to respond to me means a lot. Thanks again. I got through the day and am now refocused, so what, there is still ironing in the pile and things need doing but there are more important things to worry about in life than a bit of housework eh! Oh sorry to hear that you have been poorly and that is every reason in the world not to be too bothered with the chores. I suppose we all get days like it though, I did managed to get a fair amount done in the end but skipped a lot of what I would normally do. Hope you soon feel 100% again. Ellie :D

I get these days every day of my life. There is never enough time in a day to get everything done alot of times plus work. We eventually get so tired and we cannot even function any longer. I have so much to do every day, that I am running around like a chicken with its head cut off and trying to get as much done as I can while I am up out of this chair. I would much rather do Mylot also than the other things, but of course it has to be done anyway.

Hi Steph, I know exactly what you mean. I keep flitting back to myLot in between the chores. I have made a start now and am gradually getting there, second load is in machine, kitchen almost done just got to mop floor now but do that just before I go down town to collect parcel and it will then be dry when I get back eh! Yes...somedays it's better to sit and look at it...yesterday I had my little granddaughter who came on Sunday night....she will be three in June...well she has alot of zip and I was really tired from trying to keep up with her and the house looked like it blew up....but after she left I was just too tired. A friend is supposed to be coming to visit tonight and when I got home from work I needed a nap. I did get a little nap and started picking up so it's at least half way presentable! Hope you found your motivation! LOL.....

Yes I managed it in the end, not with my normal zest but after a few suggestions on here I put the music on and got going. Managed to achieve enough to make it look up and together enough for when visitors arrived earlier. I have a 4 year old so know exactly what you mean by being worn out by their zip! LOL Ellie :D

Oh yes, I have those days regularly. It is particularly difficult for me at the moment as the kids are off for Easter holidays so I find most of my time is taken up with chasing them around and keeping on top of the extra mess. At the moment I really can't be bothered with tidying up as I know it will be a mess again in 5 mins and I still have all the usual stuff to do as well as amuse the children and keep them out of mischief. At least you are doing better than me on the laundry front. I am in starting to lose floor space to the over-flowing laundry bin and the pile of ironing is taking on a life of it's own!! I would suggest sticking to the bare minimum you need to get done today. Pick your parcel up so then you are getting fresh air and a change of scenery and then 'reward' yourself on Mylot when you have done a couple of chores. I.e. 10 mins hovering = 1 discussion on Mylot. That way you get some housework done in time for your guests as well as your Mylot 'fix' without feeling guilty and rushing around when your guests are due. Good luck :)

I was thinking about you since you haven't been active for a few days. I kind of thought maybe you went on vacation. Well, I think you chose a great place to start -- mylot! Be it ever so humble, there's no place like your computer home. Glad to see you back, missy.

Hi Joyce, Thank you, I'm back. I am so used to being on everyday that I think I had withdrawal sypmtons over the weekend! LOL. Oh MyLot certainly helped today and I have actually managed to achieve quite a lot from the sound advice received and have washing drying, music playing and dinner starting to cook in the oven, vacuuming now done, ironing pile hidden and ready for guests at 5. Su is shining just about to make another cuppa and play on here til arrival. Ellie :D

Hi Littleowl, I'm glad you think I'm funny at times. A little bit more organised now and have managed to do a fair bit but have not overdon it as I'm just so tired. I suppose we all do get days like this but it isn't often I feel overwhelmed by it and just really can't be bothered. Thanks for the good luck wishes. Ellie :D

Oh everyday is like this for me just lately!! Weekend is usually the time I get up and tackle the house, I start from the bottom and work my way up. It takes 4 hours but then it is done for another week and only leaves me with odd little jobs. But this weekend I have felt like I have been in a bubble that I could not get out of, I just keep looking at it all and thinking, I cannot be bothered to do anything. It is now Tuesday and I still feel the same!! I do not go out to work, I stay at home and look after my 4 children, they have been on holiday from school for nearly 2 weeks so that could have something to do with it!! It is no good asking me really as I would say have a couple of hours on myLot first! What I tend to do is try to get my jobs done before I put the computer on, once the computer is on its game over as far as housework is concerned.

Hi I think having the kids home does definately make a big difference, mine are off from 4th April to 21st so it will be even messier then. I am making some progress today now but keep flitting back herre to MyLot far more interesting than the chores eh! Thanks for your input, appreciated. Ellie :D
