I went to the Social Security Office today. They forgot the change my medicare. I had a name change. After I divorced my ex husband I got my birth name back. Anyhow I went there today to tell them that they forgot to change my medicare. The lady laughed in my face and told me we need your divorce papers. That made me so mad. I mean it is their fault they are the ones that did not change my medicaid name. I have it on my Social Security card and My license is back to my birth name. I lost my divorce papers nut I can go back to the court house to get papers. That made me so mad. i mean I had waited 2 hours beforwe my number was called which in understandable for something that is their fault when she said that I said a few bad words. I almost want to call the head office and tell them about this lady but i did not get her name. That was just very rude and not very professinal

I know what you mean. The last time we had to deal with any gov. agency they had messed up. Some girl that worked there messed up some of our records, another employee even admitted it to us, but we were put through all kinds of crap before things were resolved, none of it our fault. They know there is nothing you can do about it, so they don't care, it is horrible.

I did tell the man that waited on me today about her. He told me that they didn't need the paper it was already in my file from before when I had come up there to get my Socail Security card. I know if she keeps that way her in my town she will be gone. I like in a small town and a lot of people will not put up with someone like that.

I don't remember how it all works because my divorce went thru many years ago. What I do remember is that it was a pain in the butt to get everything changed back to my maiden name. I did need divorce papers for social security and a couple of other changes. I actually went thru enough with the name change that I still have all my papers in a safe spot and I would never change my name ever again for anyone for any reason.

If that were me, I would have asked to speak to a supervisor. If everything else had already been changed over, I do not see why they would need to see you divorce papers just for your medicaid card. I hate to waste my time, I would have tried eveything possible before leaving.

No wonder you were frustrated! Did you not tell her that you had already given them the chance of the papers and it was their mistake? I think I would have asked for her supervisor then and there! I changed my name everywhere when I left my ex and was asked for absolutely no paperwork - as long as you are not trying to commit fraud it is perfectly fine to do that here! Good Luck sweety and don't let her get you down! xx

Yeah I showed her that my id was already changed and my social sevurity number she laughed and said well you still need your divorce people. She reminded me of a evil wirch. Hopefully I will be able to get it taken care of tommorrow. I have a hard time as it is sitting in one spot I had to leave to take pills to stop my mouth from shaking from spacisity.

It seems to me that the people they get working in these offices are rejects from other jobs because of their arrogance and rudeness. I am presently in the UK and the friend I am visiting is having a battle with the UK Pension Department ( the equvalent to our Social Security). They make home visits here and the man that came was the rudest most arrogant man I have come across in a very long time. Before he left - he made comments that could be classed as slander and the questions he asked me were a definite invasion of my privacy. Go back to the office - get the womans full name and make both a verbal and written complaint about her. Good luck

Boy, Shaunee you've just had a tough time lately.
Yes, you can pick up a copy of your divorce papers at the courthouse that the judgement entry was made. I have lost mine a couple of times.
It is a darned shame that you didn't get the woman's name, especially after waiting so long.
Hang in there! (((hugs)))

I agree with you. That lady either needed to be suspended or fired, one of the two. Next time you see her, maybe you need to look at her name tag and get her name. Then you could call the head office about it.

Do you know something, some of the people who work in those places make me so mad. Why is it that you go in there, wait hours, and then come out feeling like you are only an inch tall. When me and my hubby got together, we had some hard times, and through no fault of his own my hubby lost his job. We had to claim money to get us by while he looked for and found another job, the woman who was assigned to us was awful, she made my hubby feel worthless, made out that it was his own fault that he had lost his job and so put us on hardship allowance which was an absolute pittance. We used to have to go in once a fortnight to collect the money and she would look down her nose at us as if we were dirt, it was so humiliating. Luckily my hubby found another job within a few weeks and what a sweet feeling it was to go into that woman and tell her that we no longer needed that money. We never reported this woman either, but we should have done, and if you ever get the chance to get the womans name that you dealt with, then do it. They should not be allowed to treat people like that, they provoke you and then when you retaliate they make you pay for it.
