Do you/can you stay on mylot for an entire day?

I've read some discussions recently that made me realize that some people truly do stay on mylot practically the entire day. And believe me, this discussion is not to criticize that. I just know I couldn't do it. My eyes would get tired, I think my posture would slump, thus causing my back to hurt. A lot of people seem to post hour to hour accounts of what is going on in their 'neck of the woods'. I think it shows a dedication, but I also know some people have to be house bound for various reasons so mylot is a blessing to them in that way too. Do you stay on mylot for most of the day? If you don't, would you like to if you had the choice? If no one is neglecting their family or job, I don't see a reason why a person can't stay on mylot a long time, but I just don't think I could do it. Maybe I lack motivation. I don't know. What do you think? Are you, or would you be able to juggle your responsibilities to be on mylot for so long?

Hi Ambie, I am one of those people..When I am on mylot, I do a lot of responding to my friends as well as posting my own and responding to those. I can do this now probably because my 18 y/o is home and can help with the housework and won't start college until this fall and my 5 y/o goes to school. I do have an application in at a local school, but will be putting another in at this other school I would rather work at. So until I get an outside job, I do have all day..But there may be a time that I can't be on that often..

Will schools be hiring at this time of year? Or do your communities have year round school? We are counting down the end of the year here in Kansas. Would these be jobs for next school year?

I actually wanted in this year and had wanted to turn in my application in months ago. But with one car and my husband not seeing how important it is that he either gets home early enough or picks up an application for me, I didn't get the one in until about 2 weeks ago and I still don't have the paperwork for the other school.. So, yes, it will be for next school year..(You guys got to put up with me for all summer long.. )

Hehe--well I don't normally stay on MyLot all day as normally I have my other projects that I do on a computer..also now I'm trying to fit in doing a spring cleaning thing....I'm going through my apt with a fine tooth comb and going through all my storage containers that store a lot of papers and other paraphenalia--that in itself is going to take at least another two weeks to do...oh, and my super will just LOVE me for all the trash I'm bringing down that feel like rocks..why is it paper is so heavy? ..but for the next few days I think I will have to be glued here to MyLot...with all the glitches we've had with our emails its driving me nuts. First we DIDN'T get any notices of discussions then my email was flooded with them...most were duplicates of the same discussion...I'm only now getting to sifting through the email notices AGAIN to respond to discussions my friends have started.

This is very good question. Mylot is helping us to see other people point of view in many aspects of our life. It is more like searching on net with instance result. Many people are at home all day. I wouldn't stay all day on Mylot, but it was one day when I did. It was one year ago, when I was tired and all I wanted to do was to stay in my bed and type....

I've never tried staying on mylot all day long. I would stay a couple of hours, then go off. I don't stay on mylot the whole day as I have chores to do. My children want to use the computer too. So while I do my chores, my kids use the computer. Then I go back and continue working on mylot.

I probably wouldn't last that long. I get bored easily. I mean, I enjoy writing and responding to discussions but my brain can only handle so much. Plus, if I can just let go of my responsibilities, I think I can find better ways to entertain myself than staying on here.

logically, i would think the fact you cannot sit and stare at yer computer all day long kinda says you HAVE motivation lol i couldnt do it myself either. i cant do anything for any long periods of time monotonously without moving. my butt falls asleep, my eyes go wigged, and i get fidgity

I used to be on from the time I got up until I went to bed. I would do other things as well. I have been offline for a while so I have only been back about a week now. I log in and out throughout the afternoon and evening posting where I can. It is tough to just sit there in mylot all day sometimes...it does get boring. Blessed Be, Mari

I am on and off all day. I get on and check my email and then hop on mylot for a little bit. I am on and off throughout the day doing some other things on the computer and, so I open a myLot tab as well. It is what I do in between the other things I am doing. I don't think my back or my eyes could handle being on the computer all day.

Yes, i can stay here whole day, but of course i have to stop during meal time. That was happen to me twice, now i cannot do that, i have so many things to do like taking care of my child for a while and doing some computer jobs here in my shop. It takes me a few minute before i post a reply because i read first. Before it was easy to find interesting topic, now i consume so much time before i get one.

without a job I could be on here all day, off and on to make $$ and to give myself something to do, that's how they have so much $$. I would never be able to be on here for more than a few hours without having to get off and either go to work or go to bed! I think some people have nothing else better to do, me personally neither do I, we hardly ever leave the apartment, hubbie likes to be lazy and so do I!

I really don't think my body could handle being on for an entire day. I do, however, get on and off throughout the day, as my schedule permits. I guess I could if I considered it my "job"... lol!

Very true. A person could really make money with their computer by being really dedicated to mylot.

Since i am alone in the office... and there is very little to do... mylot is my only way to fight boredome... so i am logged on from the time i arrive until the time i leave... But when there is a job to be done... i don't sign out... i stay logged on... and then do the job that i have to do... this is also like taking advantage of all the time that i have because i know that this kind of set up will not last forever...

I am on and off throughout the day, although I mainly come on at night when the children are all in bed. I am not house bound but I am a stay at home mum to 4 kids. My hubby works full time and his wage allows me to be at home for the kids and to be able to take them to school, fetch them home, listen to their worries and do homework with them and I also have a 2 year old at home with me. I have a few things that I do on the computer in order to just bump up hubbys wage and bring a bit of extra pocket money in. I do not have any friends around where I live, my best friend moved about a year ago and so I do not see or speak to her much and so I find it hard in a day sometimes being on my own. I can talk to my hubby do not get me wrong, but it is nice to have another outlet and other ears to listen to me and to talk too.

I just want to tell you that I admire you very much for staying home with your children, and keeping your household together. Too many times stay at home mothers and wives are put down and not held in as high regard as working mothers. That isn't right, and I appreciate your dedication to your family and your sacrifices. It would be wonderful if we could have more women in the world like you.

Thank you, that is the sweetest thing anyone has said to me in a long time.I appreciate your words, I always feel I have to justify staying at home, I do not know why, I guess it is because of the reasons you stated about being put down and judged.

I am on and off myLot throughout the day. I am on the computer alot- my work, play and personal stuff is almost all on the computer. I don't think I could just sit and do myLot every day for hours on end, no.
