What food group do you consider the potatoe?

Some people say it is a vegetable and some say it is a starch. I believe it is actually both, but when I am eating potatoes I feel as if I am eating a starch. If I have chicken and potatoes, I feel like I am missing my vegetables. What about you?

I consider potatoes a starch, if I am serving potatoes as a side dish I will still have another less starchy vegetable, usually something green.

Technically it is a vegetable, but I feel the same way you do about them. If I am having chicken and potatoes I also add green beans or broccoli or some other vegetable.

Potatoes are a vegetable and it does contain a lot of starch. 1 cup of baked potato with the skin has only 132 calories. This just the baked potato with the skin. Potatoes are not fatting by them selve. It is all the sour cream butter and or cheese that they are topped with that adds the calories to them.
