I've successfully followed the South Beach Diet plan for almost 5 years now. It's great! It's not a diet that you go on, lose the weight, and then go off of. It's meant to be adopted as a way of eating and it's very easy to do.
As you probably know, it was developed by a cardiologist, not as a weight loss diet, but as a healthy way to eat for his heart patients. The weight was just a very good side effect of it.
One of the good things about it is that if after you are in Phase 3 (the maintenance phase), you let yourself slip up and gain some weight back, it's very easy to switch back to one of the earlier phases and get things under control. Phase 1 is pretty restrictive, but it's important and it allows you to lose your cravings for bad carbs and fats.
Did you start South Beach? How's it going?

I did really great the first couple of weeks and I lost 6 pounds, but then I gained a couple back while still restricting myself. I got really upset, and stopped. I know I should have kept going, but I felt so hungery all the time, and I was not losing any weight. I know I probably gave up to soon, but I get really frustrated and really need to see results to keep me motivated.

my mom's doctor reccommended this and the mediteranean diet both very highly to her...i read the books and it did seem like everything was pretty good for you...i like that it seems like a well balanced plan.
I have been struggling to diet since I had my daughter 7 months ago...i used to be so skinny and it never mattered what i ate, i think my age is catching up to me, lol.
I think the best tip is to stick with it...that is where I've gone astray...i diet great for 2 weeks and then my hubby or my mom will sabotage it with a party or bringing food home, lol.
at any rate, good luck with it! let us know how it goes!
