thing that you have ever had to have done at the dentist? What do you hate about going to the dentist? Tell me your horror stories about the dentists if you have any!!! I am lucky in that I have never ever had a filling, when I go to the dentist, I hate how they examine your teeth and poke and prod at them, I think it is awful. The worst thing I have ever had done at the dentist is having my teeth cleaned, that is awful and I think it really hurts. What I hate about the dentist, is the bill you get to pay after! Talk about rip off, thats the only reason they want to clean my teeth because they know they are not going to get much money out of me any other way!!!

hi gemini_rose! no i don't enjoy going to the dentist. i actually detest going there. but i was a kid who loved candies and all kinds of sweets and i didn't really brush my teeth three times a day then. so it came to a point that i had to go to the dentist regularly. and i have experienced to have my tooth pulled off! it wasn't really a nice experience but compared with a tooth cleaned up and removed of the cavities and filled up with "pasta", i would prefer pulling off my tooth as long as there's anesthesia. i hated the experience when the dentist remove the center damaged part of my tooth and cleaned it up to the bottom and finally putting the filling. it was like an ice being scratched with a knife or some metal, the kind that gives you an unpleasant sensation. ..

wow your very lucky. I have had a lot of fillings and some root canals and that hurts more then a cleaning. When I was younger my mom took me to the dentist and that mean man gave me a shot in my gums and didn't numb it before and it hurt like hell. After that my mom couldn't get me to the dentist no matter what it was for. My ped told her to give me some medicine to relax me. I don't remember if she took me back when I was younger but I remember once I was a teenager I didn't care much. I had a new dentist recently and she burned my tongue and my lip and they were not numb. She took 4 visits to do one root canal. I never went back to her.

I don't like the dentist particularly but it does not bother me either! I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed but that was in hospital so I guess the worst i have had done was root canal treatment - not very pleasant! xxx

I had an operation at 16 to get them all removed as they were growing under my teeth and causing terrible pain - at one point I could eat nothing solid for 12 days! xxx

Long time ago, when i had a cavity in my teeth, i went to the dentist with all braveness,..but that lasted until the dentist.. started to examine my teeth.. he started, by saying it will be over within minutes, and gave two injections in my mouth.. ( i cant remember where exactly he injected me) and started to have a horrible play inside .. by drilling...cleaning.. with my mouth wide open. After 10 minutes, he said.. " okay, now you are alright..and the cavity is filled." Slowly i came out of his room, trying to remain normal and i looked upon the mirror hung outside.. only to see cheek bludgeoning.. After that instance,.. i have not gone to the dentist so far.

You're right they charge an arm and leg for their services. I have gone in to have a tooth pulled to having to have an xray and to hear well we can't do it today. They poke and prod at every teeth in my mouth. I just wanted the tooth pulled that was causing me pain. My daughter had a filling put in a tooth, then a root canal about 3 years ago on the same tooth and has had trouble with it ever since. They refused to pull it. Now it as broken off and they just want to file it down. They are going to get rich off of this one tooth. I want to be a dentist so I can get rich.

Well shall we open a practise together and both of us can get rich! I have some pliers and some cotton wool balls that should do for a start. Those root canals are bad, I had a friend who had terrible trouble with hers and she was in agony for months before they finally sorted her out, I think she still has trouble with it now.

Pregnancy is supposed to be harsh on your teeth, if that was true then I should not really have any with having four children!

I have 4 dentures at this young age..poor me, so for like 2 and half years every month, have to see my dentist..I don't enjoy it since as far as money is concern plus all the long session hearing all those noisy machines... Only if I took care of my teeth when I was younger, anyway...

When I was a kid I needed a tooth pulled out, but I didn't want to. I was already at the dentist's clinic but I was adamant about not having it done. The dentist had to bribe me 10 pesos to convince me. Guess what? I agreed. Haha

Dentist checking - Dentist checking and removing tooth.
Well i guess that was some 7 years back when i went to see a dentist to get one of my wisdom teeth removed. It was so horrible that which he was removing he said it will take some 30 mins or so and gave me one painkiller injection in the jaws. But it took nearly 1 hour and 45 mins to remove the tooth cause i had a blow while playing cricket and the tooth was displaced. Yeah obviously the bill was too much and i was adviced to take medicines for almost a month ..eww thats horrible.

I really have a big doubt whether there will be someone who enjoys going to see a dentist. Be sure I am not one of them I had my wisdom teeth pulled in the past and that was horrible because I cried because of the pain. So the dentist gave me a second shot so that I wouldn't feel something painful about it.

It can be quite expensive for some people and really depends on what you are getting done, I don't know why but I think many people do fear going to the dentist. I think I just get a bit nervous and just don't like it on the whole that someone has to fiddle with my mouth for longer than I want. I don't know but it has to be done sometimes but that is why we should reduce the chances of going to the dentist by really looking after our teeth and gums.

Ive thought of a story re the dentists visit ...lol...Well i went to my new dentist for the first time...he is lovely...from hungary...and he very much seemed to put me at ease!!...or so i thought!! He lowered the chair until i was horizontal...by then i was in a complete and utter state of panic!!! HE asked if all was well....I said...Oh yes..no problem....then he said..if you have any worries please raise your hand...and i will stop... I opened my mouth..he popped his mirror in my mouth...I shot my hand in the air... But Mrs Andrews ..ive only put the mirror in so far!!! Ever felt a silly fool....

i don't think anybody like to go to the dentist, let alone enjoying it... unless if it is necessary... i always afraid to go to the dentist as i know how painful it is when the dentist start pricking at your teeth... last year i have a very bad toothache and i had to have a root canal treatment... i think that's the worst and it costs me heaps as well...

lol..I don't like going to the dentist at all. I shake whenever I am sitting there and the dentist do something to my teeth. Even if I know I can take the pain I still can't take being not scared. When I was in grade school my mom had to pay me 1 peso ( which that time can buy a lot of candies) and I got a balloon and icecream just to get 1 tooth out....lol..I won't get hurt for nothing eh..hehe..I never wanted to go back after that. even if they paid me double..lol

I don't know if I enjoy it gemini_rose, but the last time I went was six months ago for a clean. Wasn't too bad but it took a while. Just as well we have dental insurance or else we would of had to pay quite a bit. Cleaning is free (i.e paid by our insurance) I think twice a year for my family.

I don't like the bills either, but I'm not to fond of the dentist. People in my family have weak teeth, and get cavities easily no matter how much they brush and rinse. I always feel like the dentist thinks I'm not taking care of my teeth when I am. Plus, one time they were drilling for a cavity and they didn't give me enough novacaine and I felt it. That really hurt.

My eldest son has weak teeth too, I think it is going to cost him a lot of money when he is older if he is not careful.

root canals root canals rootcanals I hate them and the pain it is awful just plain awful.my worse expereience was a female dentist who did all the preliminary work for a root canal then would not finish it because I did not have a lump sum of three hundred dollars or would she let me pay it in payments so there I am with part of a root canal and that is all.
@gemini_rose (16264)

Thats terrible, I know those are painful as I had a friend who had one, it is terrible that they will let you suffer because you did not have the money, I could not leave someone in pain personally.

Hi GeminiRose! LOL..thats funny since i bet alot of others are saying the same thing Yuck Dentists..nothing against them except they should learn to be a little more compassionate. I was never taken to the dentist as a child and then when i got married I went and had work done for a few cavities and one tooth pulled..now that wasn't nice. I later had 2 root canals and even though i was ok it was the long hours sitting in a strange position that bothered me..needles are fine and don't like the gas but cleaning the teeth are a painful reminder of why i don't like going.
