Did you bank your child's cord blood? What were your reasons for choosing to do it, or choosing Not to do it? I didn't get the chance to do it, because my little girl was born 7 weeks early, and we didnt get to get the paper work turned in on time....

I donated my son's cord blood. My doctor had us to sign a release form at like 16 weeks if we wanted to donate. We looked at saving it, but decided that the cost was too much. We decided it wouldn't be realistic to expect we would be able to pay that kind of money on a single income, since we knew I would become a stay at home mom as soon as my husband went back to days. We did donate it, though, because even though it probably won't ever help us, it might help someone else someday.

I didn't bank any of mine 1 for the reason you said (my last one was born at 33 weeks) but mainly because it costs a lot of money to maintain it. Right now the science isn't perfect and hasn't really been around long enough to prove it in my book to the point that I would pay what they are asking for it. And the other thing too is that you may do it with one kid but if you do that then you would need to do all of the kids following as well because even though they came from the same parents doesn't mean that they will be a match for each other.
