Thrift store shoes - Do you wear second-hand clothing and shoes?

I just wonder who among you do the same. I buy my clothes and shoes, bags and books on thrift stores. For one thing, it's really cheap, and affordable. For someone who's really on a budget, that's a place to go buy your stuff, not unless it's a house appliances or groceries. I don't mind wearing a second-hand clothing or a pair of shoe. But I don't buy something that is really in used condition. I always go for items that has still life in it. I'm a happy camper whenever I get good stuff and things that I wanted on that store, it's just makes my day. Do you mind wearing/using second-hand stuff?

i dont wear second hand clothes or buy second hand shoes. i am not used to it... and i find the thrift stores in here a bit not "sanitized" they maybe too different from other countries... besides there are really cheap brand new clothes in the country being sold at "tiangge" as what we call them here. At least, they are new.

It is really different per country.. here in US, as that thrift store I usually go to, they don't put out stuff that's dirty or doesn't look good at all. If it's slightly damaged, sure it's always on that "sale" bin. I don't buy shoes that I think is dirty or something, I chose what I buy.

Sure, Why not. Sometimes you can get brand new things really cheap, or really nice used items. Plus where else can you get jeans that are already wore in. I also buy kids clothes at the thrift store, kids often out grow things before they out wear them, so they are usually still in very nice condition.

Old clothes - Second hand clothes
I do not buy and wear second-hand clothes or shoes. It is not considered good as per our family customs. There is no sense of superiority in this. If need arises, we share clothes and shoes with other members in the family.

Well its not bad if u find something very unusual ins econd hand stores which u cant find in branded stores. Many hand made things can be found there which can make ur room or house decorated . Or u find a clean peice of cloth u can wear it.

I have done this before, but for me any more, it is just as cheap to get clothes like when they go on clearance for about the same price, and sometimes even cheaper. And when it comes to shoes, I prefer them Brand New anymore unless I find a pair in a Thrift store you can tell is practically brand New. For me, I consider myself a Bargain shopper instead of a Thrift store person, and really enjoy a Good Clearance sale or two.

Yes, I'm the same way as you. I buy shoes more often than I buy clothes because I guess they wear out quicker. I haven't bought clothes for myself in years. My fiance buys me some clothes here and there, but mostly I just wear what I have. I buy a lot of things from Good Will and stores like that, sometimes even Walmart because they're cheaper. I don't mind buying off-brand stuff or stuff that might be used because it saves so much money. As long as it doesn't have holes in it or stains all over the place, I'm fine with it. You can't really be picky if you want to save money! You can get some nice stuff at Good Will, though. Shoes are about $1 a pair and clothes sometimes still have the tags on them. Where I live, a lot of nice clothes like that are donated because rich people buy them, wear them once or not at all, and just donate them. It's great. I'm glad there's someone else like me who does this kind of thing.

A place that actually sells clothes and things cheaper than Goodwill? I've got to find one of those around here! I never even knew there were places cheaper. Wow, you're definitely a pro at bargain shopping. Good for you! You'll be one of those people who retires 20 years early, living off interest on all the money you put away nowadays from not buying expensive clothes. You sure can't beat 50 cents! I think that's awesome you call and see when the sales are since you save yourself gas taking a trip into the store and taking at chance at there not being a sale. Sounds like you've got the process down pat. By the way, I'm just taking a shot in the dark here, but my guess is that you like garage sales, too, huh? Happy shopping.

glad I have some thrift-store-mates here. lol I have a bunch of shoes already, most of them are from thrift stores or from a sale at an outlet store shop. Yeah, I go to GoodWill too, but I have a favorite that sell any kind of stuff cheaper than GoodWill does, they even hold sales every month. That's where shoes and adult clothing all drops to 50cents. They don't have a certain date though, so what I do is call them every now and then and ask what is their sale for the day. It's just crazy!

I love thrift stores! :) My absolute favorite pair of jeans came form this little shop I came across when I was in high school and on a vacation and I've had them for over 6 years! They were already broken in because they were previously owned, so, when I bought them they were perfect! Ever since then, I've been a huge thrift shop fan! I've found some of the best buys with clothing there!

glad you like it too,..on those pile of clothes we could find branded stuff like Tommy's, Banana Republic, Gaps, Marks & Spencers and those don't wear out quickly.. most of my pants are branded, and it's from that store. If I get tired wearing them, I'll buy again. Not waisting money if it's really that cheap for a pair of jeans. :) Thanks for posting

I hear ya on the cheaper clothes and not wasting the money.... When I first got into thrift stores I'd buy something that I didn't really LOVE and wind up not wearing it, but bought it just because it was such a low price....well, I learned to stop doing that after one day realizing all the items I'd bought and never wore!

I have that tendency too, I buy some things that looks good and so cheap, that I can't resist but get it. Then I would end up with much of that. I stop buying jeans already, since I have enough for two weeks I guess! But when I get to see something that is hipster, because I have big hips, this kind of jeans are so hard to find, I'd go get it. :)

I don't mind a bit! I outfit my entire family by thrift store shopping. Both of my girls look very nice in their second hand clothing. I've even found brand new or next to new dress shirts and pants for my husband at the thrift shop. We've bought everything from shoes, purses, tote bags, gloves, clothes of all kinds, book, housewares, etc. at our local thrift shops. I won't buy undies, socks, or swimwear used, but other than personal items, we're fine with using and wearing second hand stuff.

I prefer buying and using brand new clothes. Preferably only by the brands that has to do with my lifestyle. Brands like, Ben Sherman, Lonsdale, Arnold Palmer, Paul Smith, Marks & Spencer, Fred Perry, Debenhams (Any of their designer label brands), Levi's, Dr. Martens, Adidas, Umbro, and Evisu. For me, I treat my clothes like my cd/music collection. I go for quality not quantity, and its comforting to know that you work and earned hard for it despite of your situation in life. I, myself belonging to the working class bracket believes that you can live and look good even if you're living under difficult circumstances.

It all depends on where the clothes came from. I they came from someone I know, then I will be happy to wear them. I'm wearing something "second hand" today, that my sister gave to me, that's hers, but that no longer fits her since she lost weight. It fits me well, and she and I have the same taste.

I've never found used shoes that I could stand. Once they are broken-in by another person's feet, they never feel comfortable to me. All other outerwear I don't mind used. In fact, not only can you find some nice stuff, you can also remake and resew different outfits together to make clothes of your own at a fraction of fabric prices! Too bad I'm not very good at it.

I prefer buying second hand. It's better for the environment since it means less raw materials being used up to make new products & less items being disposed of that are still usable. It's better for my budget. And I find I am far more apt to find durable, tasteful & unique items at a thrift store than at any given mall store. All around it just makes more sense to buy second hand.

The second- hand is very cheap but I don't like it very much. It make me feel sick. If I don't have enough money to buy clothes or shoes, I'll save money until enough to buy it.

I do love go to bundle shop to find or search any jeans or tshirt since there are many of those things in here. I can find it easily and the price really cheap and affordable. Difference with market, shop or any boutique shop, they sell in high price even though the items are the "same" thing .
