Do you still get paper bank statements?

Or have you switched to getting the online version only? I have terrible paper clutter issues, but some things I still like the hardcopy for. For a long time bank statements were one of them, but recently I realized that so often I don't even open it because I keep tabs on my account daily online. So, I always know it is balanced with Quicken (and I can balance Quicken via the computer, too). So, a few months ago I took a deep breath and made the switch to online statements. I am so happy to have one less bit of paper clutter coming into the house and I don't miss the statements at all (and I don't even look at the one online, to be honest). How about you? Do you still get paper copies of your bank statements?

i too changed to online e-statements. Less paper. O.K.,But there is a need for banks to reduce service tax for those who opt for online statements in leau of less spending on paper for customers.

Hi aboveRubies I've learned the hard way to have copies of everything. When my ex and i divorced he denied alot and i couldn't prove checks from Calif. about a home i had there that i sold and bought a home here in Texas and stupidly put in both our names. Well since he got half i now keep copies of everything no matter what, but i do all my banking online as an extra measure. So paper is still piling up in boxes in my home unfortunately

Well up until a year ago i didn't have a bank account so it's been taking a while to get used to having that again I do still get a paper copy. I'm not really sure why I do. I check it on line whenever I need to; not like there is much in there. I really should check to see about stopping it. I don't need the paper here that's for sure. Just goes to waste.

YES I live in a city of 10,000 people and I get paper bank-statements from my Amcore account. I know Wellsfargo has an electronic system, but I think they also do paper bank statements still.

Yes I still get paper statements, because sometimes I have to send them off to places to get money in my bank, such as my EMA. Also if I ever had a problem then it is easier to take the statement to the bank rather than paying to get one, which you have to do if you don't get a paper statement. At least that is the last I heard.

So, tell me what you would do if your computer or the bank's computer went down and all your previous accounts were lost for a period? Wouldn't you still be happy to receive the paper statements, and to file them. I always believe in backup to the computer. You never know what might happen that you lose all your records, and you then have backup statements. Brightest Blessings.

We still get the paper version of the bank statements. I prefer a hard copy. It must be the bookkeeper in me! At least this way I have proof perfect when I pay something. They don't send the cancelled checks to us as it seems they don't do that here in the UK. To me it is always better to have a paper trail.

I do online statements for somethings but for banking I prefer the paper statements because I am always afraid that if there is ever a computer glitch and they went down for whatever reason how can you prove how much money was in your account, that bothers me.

I do with my account but my husband doesn't. He prefers to see eveything online. I find it hard to read them sometimes and prefer to have a hard copy to file away. I have a filing system and at times it does get backed up. When I'm done with statements I don't need anymore, then I shred them. All our other accounts are paperless.

I get the paper ones. My bank doesnt offer the online statements as an alternative to paper. I have access to both of them and toss the paper ones in a file folder. I use the online one every day since its always up to date and current. I get mostly online bills too.

I do keep the paper ones, because once the current and previous (one) statement has passed you can no longer access it online - sometimes I need to show where I made a payment and that statement is necessary.

I do still have paper statements that come through the post, I just file them. I do online banking and I also print a statement off each week on there too, just so I can keep a close eye on what I am spending and what is going in and out each day or two. Paper is a nuisance though, I always have problems with getting rid of all the paper stuff we seem to accumulate!!

I still get the paper copies of my bank statement. I find that when i do sit down and look at it I'm more likely to catch an error on paper than when I'm looking at the computer. Its also easier to yellow highlight the errors or things i need to make changes to in my budget. I still also get any cheques i wrote back so i can verify which ones were cashed or not..and i keep records of what i did write them for. Sure its a bit of extra paper clutter but...then i can go back a couple years rather than losing my information if my pc crashes, and the online banking statements only go back 2 or 3 years.

I still get my bank statement in the mail every month. I just never bothered to sign up for online banking. I do not use my checking account very much, so it is not really a priority for me I guess.

While I have an onlineaccount I still like the idea of paper bank statementsif only because sometimes you need to show your bank statement for proof of your earnings and besides I like tohave two ways to confirm my account even tho its really old fashinoned now.but I love the online account and how it is so easy to check on things.

I do almost all of my banking online but I still get paper statements too. I really should cut that off and make a small contribution to the environment. I check the balance every few days on the account I use most often to make sure I haven't forgotten to write anything down. If I waited for my statement to come in the mail before balancing, I'd be shelling out big bucks for overdraft fees, I'm sure. So yea, it makes no sense to keep getting them in the mail for me either. Like you, I seldom even read them.
