One or more Bank or Credit Unions do you use

Before I married, I used the CIBC, and then after that, my husband and I got a joint account in the Credit Union, and although I opened an account there, I soon closed it because not having that much money, that was being used for when there was not enough in our joint account and I felt that I would not be able to save anything. I then put money in my CIBC account and that was all right, until we bought a car and the bank we dealt with was the Bank of Montreal, so I decided to open a US savings account. That went all right, until the balance went to zero. But I could not go to the CIBC, so later on I reopened my US savings account and a regular savings account at the Bank of Montreal. I also have an ING account, and have recently got a Bank of Montreal account since that is closes to the Mall and the line ups are not as long as at the CIBC. So do you have all your eggs in one basket, or do you distribute them among several banks or credit unions?

I have two checking accounts and one savings, plus the ING account. One of the checking I have linked with my ING. I am looking for a local savings account with a high interest and no service charges.

Both my checking accounts are linked. Good luck in your search cause there are no banks by me that give a higher interest rate than ING direct.

We use two local banks and are pretty happy with the service. I have a couple of retirement accounts, and then there is whatever I earn and put into my PayPal.

It may just be to US members, but Pay Pal pays money market interest rates on anything that I leave in there. It is great to earn interest every month, even if it is only a little.

well my first bank account ever opened was scotiabank, then I have had a few others since, I would rather not put that information here on the net though, you never know who is readings these things on a public forum.

Too many people want to steal my money thanks to debt incurred during my past marriage so I have a special account for my child support that no one can touch cause its illegal to take child support money. But they do it and you have to fight to get it back.

I wonder if you can get someone you trust like your parents or a relative to open an account, but I guess the collectors would get that as well. And I guess you cannot afford a decent lawyer who will make sure that that money only goes for child support. I hope you get out of your debt so no one takes your child support.

I have a credit union and a bank. One is in Maine, one is in NYC. I will be looking for a credit union here in NYC. My Gram always said go with a Credit Union. I trust her judgment on this one. Ainge
