at the store the other day. She is always trying to take the broom from me when I am sweeping, so I got her one for herself. It is the little kid one. They had brooms and dustpans, mops, and little vacuum cleaners. They are so cute. I remember having the broom set when I was a kid. Do your kids have any of these things or did you when you were a kid?

my daugther and niece both have a set of brooms and mops, not too long ago we cleaned out our grandmothers attic and i found my set from when i was little back in the early 80's in the same box it came and that's what sparked them to ask for a set. and your right it is so addorable now when i mop or sweep my daugther is behind e with her set.

Don't get them the toy ones, teach her how to use the big one!!! ha ha ha. My four year old loves to help out with cleaning and always has done, admittedly the broom is too big for her, but she uses the dustpan and brush... She stands on a chair to 'help' with the wiping up and gets upset if you make her Mom a cup of tea (or 'some cup of tea') when she wanted to make it herself. In all seriousness, I think kids should be encouraged when they naturally want to help instead of telling them they are too small. Even when they are not really helping that much, the idea that they are helping is great training for when they really are able to make a difference. I think children benefit from feeling they are part of what is going on around them, part of their family and really involved in everything - it is too easy to sideline a child by not letting them do something because it might take a long time to teach them or they might 'get in the way'. Good for you, let your child feel that she is positively contributing something.

She tried to take the big one, that is why I got her one that is her size. All I need is her knocking over everything in the house trying to sweep with a big one.

Hi lilybug! I guess its a good idea to have your child imitate the household chores mothers usually do. It will make them more responsible to share with the chores when they are old enough. My girl has a little watering can too. Whenever I use my own watering can to water the plants, she will also get hers and follow what I'm doing. of course its a bit messy since she will get herslf wet first than the plants, but its fun for both of us.
