I live with my 31 year old son, and one of the things I miss from living with a spouse is someone to scratch my back when it is itchy or rub my aching legs and feet. My son has this thing about touching and he will not do it for me, Does your spouse scratch your back and rub your aching legs and feet? Do you do it for him or her?

To answer your question, I had to buy a backscratcher because I was tired of rubbing the side of the doorway down..No he doesn't rub or massage anything when I am hurting and achy but let him be hurting and aching and I have to massage shoulders.back, legs, neck, his head when he has a headache and sometimes his feet. I hate doing his feet.Yuck! I had to get a massager so when I am hurting that I use it on my back and neck. I think that is should go both way he should do mine if I do his but he has totally different thoughts on that.

well, when he works he is a carpenter and he works with his hands alot and so he says they ache and hurt alot. they are knots on his fingers which we think is gout. And he is lifting and tugging 2x4s,2x6s,4x4s and 100-400-(60-80 pound a piece ) heavyweight blocks and mixing morter and tugging a wheel barrow full of morter and sand and then building houses and pouring footers, sidewalks, running up and down ladders, putting in window, siding, roofs, shingles so if it was me I would be to tired to even raise my arm and he when he tried a few times it was never hard enough cause his hands are sore they also bust open and bleed sometimes and I would get frustrated and say forget it! But he never would do my chubby ugly feet, or legs. He gets charly horses and big knots on his legs and ask me to rub them down and massage them he also has broken veins and vericose veins in his legs that cause him alot of pain. I shouldn't be a grouch about it because he does work hard when he can. I should be a good wife and rub his legs and back when it is needed but lately I haven't as much. I feel quilty about it at times because he has to work so hard. That is why I live simple and don't ask for much except for the nescessities, I try to pay for my own stuff and net myself and even the phone if I have any left.

I rub and scratch my husband's back and he does the same for me. He doesn't do a really good job as I would like for him to do. Still every once in awhile he will actually do it for me. I do the same for his legs and feet, and he does the same for me. My muscles doesn't take a lot to get sore so he has to do more rubbing for me. So I will rub his just for the heck of it. Especially after he has to take his physical readiness test for the guard, because he has to run 2 miles for it.

Amen to that. I am married and my husband and I scratch each others back and rub each others feet when we need to have it done or have the time to do it. My husband always scratched my back, even if I don't ask him to and I do the same for him also. He only rubs my feet if I ask him to do it though. I rub his feet because he stands on them alot.

My X used to rub my back all the time. He would sometimes even do it in his sleep. It was like he had to always be touching me. I often wonder if he misses that? Surprisingly I do not! xooxoxxooxxo

Well I live alone now, save for my two kitties so I have to do my own foot messages or scratching of my back. My mother when she was alive had a real aversion to being touched too...even simple things like brushing her hair. Toward the end she never even bothered brushing her hair so volunteered to do it for her...yeesh..you think I was murdering her the way she carry on...and I was really gentle too--when she be in the hospital never liked the nurses touching her either..

I am very lucky, the man I am about to marry does scratch my back, and rub my aching legs and feet, and yes I do the same for him. To be fair I have to tell you I'm a massage therapist so I give him a massage when he is aching and he tries to do the same for me. My kids are also willing to do that if I need being they know with all their sports I will take care of all of their aches and pains with massage so if mommy gets an itch on the back they have no prob taking care of that either. And My youngest son 13 has great massage hands, oh I have trained him well hehe. If you can find a good massage therapist in your area, he or she can take care of the aches and pains in your feet and legs and when they apply the lotion or oil to massage your back it helps with the itchys. :)

Bruce and I both will rub each others aches and pains away. My shoulders often ache and it's his feet that ache. I am the one who gets the 'itchy' back and he will scratch it every time. With me saying 'to the right' no more left, no lower. LOL

my husband used to do such menial tasks for me - he would even take the sock lint out from between my toes, hehe. now my daughters will lavish such attention on their poor old mother - as my husband works such long hours we hardly see one another and when he is home he is needing the extra tender care more than I am.

Hi I am like you no one to do it for me. I always get an itch on my back that I just can't reach myself too. I usually grab a pen of something long to do it. Don't like my feet being touched anyway so that doesn't bother me. Ellie :D

No not anymore, he used to tickle my back for me, but he has not done that for ages. I must say though he will never in this lifetime consider touching my feet, he hates them. I would not dream of rubbing his feet either, they are working feet and so are not very nice! I sometimes ask the kids to scratch my back if it is itchy but then I have to spend the next two hours tickling them all over!!
