Ah It's Spring....Are you doing a Spring Cleaning Thing?

Well it's officially been spring a few weeks now, but I'm only getting around to a genuine spring cleaning thing. I'm getting serious about it as there really is so much stuff I can chuck out. While my apartment is clutter free, I do have a lot of plastic storage containers that have tons of papers piled in them and it's like, why the heck am I keeping a lot of this stuff anyway??..of course probably one of the most boring jobs to do is precisely that..to go through piles of papers, but I really want to make a go of it and get rid of so much "stuff"--oh, my super will just love me for that..I mean he no doubt realizes that the bags and bags of garbage I've already been emptying out do belong to me being sort of nosy. Also I'm sort of the philosophy to get rid of the old and pave the way for the new... So how about you are any of you getting serious about doing some spring cleaning to get rid of stuff you just don't need or want anymore?

Well a little bit earlier in the year i had a good turn out...and hubby went off to the tip laden with bags!!! He curses me lol..i love going to auction houses..and maybe i see a lot i would like too buy..then one single lot has 5 boxes in it!!!...so i sort out what i want to keep...give some away...then the rest has to be taken away!!! Ive a habit of filling every corner..and every cupboard.... But att the moment i have space!!!!...and space means....i can see if i can find things to go into the spaces!!!!! But im going to use every bit of self restraint...and not do it!!!..the stuff just sits there and gathers dust....plus i have to dust it!!!! Maybe i will leave those spaces and empty cupboards as they are!!!!

It does seem that when one has a lot of stuff it just winds up collecting dust, right? and dusting isn't exactly one of my favorite things to do

That is what I have been doing all weekend, along with some re-arranging of furniture, and cleaning in general, you know, not just the dust what ya see, but behind and under everything. I cleaned out the filing cabinet and set up new files, and set up my scrapbooking room, which will be a work in progress for a month or so, since there is a work table I want to get and some shelving and stuff. I can't work with a messy work table, desk, room, etc. I have to have some level of organization. Oh, I also filled up two large trash bags to carry out, stuff I don't need, and some stuff I haven't looked at or needed in at least 3 years.

A large part of what I want to get done requires my husband to help. I realized that I cannot have new, until I let go of the old. I am donating some decent furniture to a group that gives furniture to people who are without. I have tons of paper, myself. I also am SO EXCITED ! A week or so back I got a starter Pack from Shaklee, including the Basic H2. That stuff is powerful and not smelly at all. I wiped down the outside of all of my appliances, and cleaned the glass in cabinets and so forth. It works really fast and well.

Yes it is costly, but I used one fourth tsp. in sixteen ounces of water. That means that my 16 oz. bottle will make 24 bottles of cleaner per ounce. In that case it is inexpensive. Vinegar is good, too, and baking soda.

Hi There, That is basically what I have been doing all day today. I cannot say I really enjoy it too much. :( I basically start with my garage and then go through the rooms of the house. I have not even made it through the garage today. I already have about 2 loads ready to take to the dump. I decided I needed to take a break and came her to mylot for a while before I get back at it. cheers,

I am cleaning and cleaning and cleaning.... I have always stuff that I don't need any longer. I start scanning most important papers to make sure I have room to breathe. I have to keep all tax papers for 7 years, but I keep them longer, just in case. Other than this, I try to give away clothes and shoes that I no longer need. I will probably do garage sale in May.

I'm not really doing it as seriously as you, but when the sun comes out, it makes you feel like starting over, doesn't it? In fact, just this morning, probably as you wrote this, I cleared out a load of papers and old catalogues which had accumulated here. I've done a load of washing and tomorrow, I intend to wash all my net and outer curtains (drapes). I do it in dribs and drabs, basically. By the way... no e-mail arrived from you my friend. Brightest Blessings. x

There's certainly something odd going on. Ten hours on, and I still haven't received any e-mail from you. Are you getting the address right? I'm going to send you one to see what happens, if you'd like to check in a few minutes. Yes, I think you possibly do have a lot of negatives to clear from your home, and maybe you're overlooking some? However, when you've finished, perhaps a smudging might rid you of any that are left?

That's weird you never got my email.. I did some more cleaning today, and plan to tackle on some more tomorrow..oh, well in lieu of you're not getting my email...I just did a quick email to you to mention that I plan to do more cleansings of my place...think I need to do several more to get rid of negative vibes...maybe all the more reason I'm "physically" cleaning the place too. As for my foot problems..comes and goes..some days good some days so-so

Evening Pye, Yes I am way into the spring cleaning thing. We bought our house 2 years ago, and things are beginning to get dingy and cluttered, especially the closets. So one by one each room is getting a good clean from top to bottom. I have even decided to do a bit of painting here and there just to liven things up. I want to change my bedroom altogether, since I can not afford new furniture, I can at least change the decor which right now is done in south west motif. I think I want a more romantic Victorian feel for my bedroom. I general scour thrift shops and yard sales for pictures and such. I do need new blinds for the bedroom also. of course the yard is in need of a good grooming from the winter. My honey do list is a mile long right now :)))

Spring cleaning is a year-round event here, pye. I just got done going thru all the crap on my desk, getting rid of papers that are no longer needed or filing the important ones away in the file cabinet. Last week I cleaned off the only counter in the kitchen that tends to collect all kinds of stuff. Least half the crap there went in recycling as well. My daughter's room...welllllllll that's a whole other story that only my daughter can tell. lol Let's just say I stopped telling her to clean her room and keep the door shut. Last time I went in there to put clean clothes away, couldn't see the floor, closet, or her bunk.

Your right, she won't know the difference but I'll be dammed if I'm going to wash clean clothes when she does decide to put all the clothes on the floor in her hamper that just happens to be right inside her bedroom door. I refuse to pick up after others if they are capable of doing it themselves. She knows when I do laundry, the only clothes that get washed are the ones in the hampers, not on the floor UNLESS the hampers overflowed onto the floor from me being lazy. Pye, my daughter has so much clothes that she can go several months b4 she runs out. I keep telling ppl she doesn't need any more clothes but they give her clothes for Christmas/b-day anyways. Her closet rods/dresser drawers can't even fit them all. One of these days she's going to run out of clean clothes and then I hope she will learn to at least put her dirty clothes in her hamper instead of all over the floor/bunk/closet floor.

Messy kid's room - This is only half the clutter in her room. She did make an attempt at some point between last Fri. and today. lol
I opened the door and guess what I found? A pig-sty that's only been half-cleaned. Here's a lil peek inside.. Note the empty hamper in the bottom left-hand corner with the Sorry game on it. Your right, I remember the Odd Couple and could never figure out why Felix always picked up after Oscar. lol

Well, now you've done it! You just HAD to mention it, didn't you? I vacuumed and swept and wiped up spills and made a big pot of "What's been in the fridge a little too long" soup and now I'm tired and my back hurts and it's all your fault! (You don't think I'd do all this on my own, do you?)

You mean your kitties don't even dust the dresser tops or chase the dust bunnies out from under the bed? (As for the soup, you just toss everything in a big pot and boil it down...)

Spring cleaning is exactly what I've been doing lately, pywacket. My only problem is that I keep running across stuff that I have not seen for so long I had forgotten I even had it. Of course, that leads to me getting bogged down reading and examining things when I should try and keep moving. I have carted out a lot of stuff and I see quite a bit more that I need to get rid of also. I can't believe that I still have some of my kid's old report cards from grade school! I also found obit notices from 40 years ago. I don't know if this stuff would have any value to anyone now-I doubt it. Maybe when I work my way through all of this I will finally be able to sort through all the tons of books I've accumulated and get rid of those I no longer want.

That's the worse of it, isn't it? Going through stacks and stacks of old papers...it takes so much time sifting and sorting through everything to make sure you're not throwing out anything important...then come across other things and you think to yourself, why on earth am I keeping this stuff??? I still have some more cleaning to do, but lately I've been doing a lot of article writing to earn extra money...so the cleaning can wait a bit.

I did my spring cleaning 2 weeks ago. I started on one room going through everything and taking everything and putting it in another room. I don't know if it was because of Spring coming or not. I just had enough of things being put back and never looked at again. I'm sure the garbage men loved me during that 2 weeks as well since I never have more than a 32 gallon trash can to put on the curb. They also had the city set up the bi yearly clean up so more things got cleaned out of the garage and yard. Now I can say my house doesn't look like that of a redneck's house. *LOL* Jeff Foxworthy, gotta love him.

I am not into the spring cleaning thing as I usually do it in winter when I am stuck in the house with nothing better to do. In spring I am usually out so the mess does not both me as much as it does in the winter.

I do a spring and fall cleaning and you are right it is time for the spring cleaning. Well I've started a bit of it. I went through and cleaned out my books and my clothes in the past few weeks. Gave away what was of use to anyone else. I even cleaned out the fridge and freezer. That was scary, found stuff that had been buried in the back forever. I will probably in the next month or so take down the curtains and wash them. I try to do that every six months. I also have to clean out the linen closet and reorganize it. That closet always seems to get messy really quick. I have to do that every few months. The pretty much takes up the spring cleaning.
