We're All White Now in The UK!

Sheep Huddled Together In The Field 06-04-08 - The sheep, huddled together in the field, waiting to be taken to the barn, out of the snow. April 6th, 2008.

Just when we thought spring had sprung and all the blossoms and flowers were blooming, back comes winter. Yup, it's snowing again, and has been for most of the day, so far. Everything is white... it's a beautiful scene with the colours of the flowers and blossoms peeking through. We don't get a lot of snow in the south of England, but even in Brighton, they're having blizzards. It's a bit calmer here, and I'm quite enjoying the view out of the window. I took over thirty photographs this morning, but I've chosen one, of the sheep all grouped together, just before they were taken out of the field, to the barn. I suppose this will be put down to global warming again, but how does that figure? Snow, on April 6th, is a rare occurrence here. We've had precipitations in April before, but it's never settled like this, and I have to remember back a long, long way to recall it. The weather is all over the place at the moment... a week of warm sunshine, followed by a week of gales and heavy rain, a week of warm sunshine, and now, snow! I can't get my head round it. My little Granddaugher has even been sledging this morning! Has anybody else taken snow pictures today, that they can share? We're not the worst hit place, by any means, and I'd like to hear your stories and see your pics.

Hello, my dear friend!!! The weather has turned to showery today, after a whole week of beautiful sunny weather. Wow... thank you for looking at the picture. That was only one, of three, but you've confirmed much of what two of us have seen in them. The one with the hat, we saw as a woman. She looked as though she was perhaps from the middle ages, or even regal, going by the hat. The little dog and the animal are new to me, but I'll take another look... I saw a childlike face in the laurel and also a green person. Might I draw your attention to the right-hand side of the picture, where the rambling rose goes over the fence, and near the fence post? Drop your eyes just a little way down, and tell me if you see a child? That mist is relevant too. A friend swore to me it came down into the garden from the field at night, and also, that there was somebody behind the hedge between my garden and my neighbour's. I had to cast a circle to calm them. That's possibly why you're drawn to it. I have my own ideas about it but I don't think I want to say here, what. I'll tell you elsewhere, PM, or something. I'm not afraid of it. Thank you for popping in. Those pictures made me look at the little Mite again, and the activity is still there. I may take a trip over there this year and take some more pics... see what they turn up. No, I haven't lost my marbles just yet, but I do feel I have protection around me. Brightet Blessings to you and yours, my friend, with an extra ((((hug)))) for your Dad, and one for your ((((niece)))). xoxox

hi Darkwing. hows the weather. we are having some beautiful days the last couple of days. but i wish we got some rain, we are again in great need of it, especially the farmers around here and before the frosts start to take their toll. Thank you for the picture, and i have been studying it. and yes it is a reminder of our little one from before. you have some little faces hiding under the leaves of some of the plants. its like they are trying to pretend they cant be seen some of them. but in the bush on the left, about half way up, there is a very prominent figure, a bit of a scared look on the face and wearing a hat, and just to the left of that a type of animal face and a bushy tail. but something else i noticed is in front of that bush on the ground looks like a little dog. reminds me of gissi.there is also something about the mist behind the tree near the fence. i dont know what it is but i am drawn to it. well, take care, and best wishes to you. xxxx

The weather is definitely shifting, it is not quite sure what it wants to do. Poor Mother Nature she is in a turmoil. Can you imagine what the plants and animals are feeling? They must be sooooooo confused. This is where all the bulbs people have been planting will die in the cold. My mother lives in London and lucky for her the snow doesn't stay long enough there but my BF's parents live near Newcastle and said that they couldn't believe it, snow at this time of year and it was settling. Unbelievable. I love your pictures by the way. I wanted to respond to them but we're not friends yet so I can't. I have sent you a friend request and would love it if you would accept. Thanks!
@Darkwing (21583)
7 Apr 08
I have accepted your friends request, Angel, so you should be able to comment now if you still wish to. Yes, Newcastle gets a lot more snow than us, or London. It gets a lot colder up that way as well... the North East Coast suffers the weather from Norse Lands, and that can be pretty severe at times. My sister-in-law lives near Whitby, on the North Yorkshire Moors, and they are on the same jetstream, so suffer a lot of cold and white weather. It's a shame about the bulbs, but they will come again, I'm sure. They won't die off completely. Brightest Blessings and thank you for such a detailed and pleasant contribution. I'm happy to accept you as a friend. x

Yes, Whitby is on the coast and therefore gets quite a lot of the bad weather. Mind you it is a lovely place. I remember visiting it years ago when I was studying Geology for my A levels - I loved it there. My BF loves it there too. The views, the seas are all envigorating. Thanks for accepting the friends request. I have commented on your picture - I love 'em. Keep posting them, please!

You're quite welcome, and I hope you enjoy the picture. It was taken quite early on, when it wasn't too dark, so I caught the colour of springtime in it as well as the snow. I'm so glad to hear you're ok, other than the cold. Try to nip it in the bud, my friend, so that you don't have to visit the doctor. It's probably the thought of the steroids that's bringing you down, if you don't want them. Take care, and get well soon. Love you. xxxx

Snow on The Shed Roof - Snow on my downstairs neighbour's shed roof. April 6th 2008.
Ohhhhhh dear, we are upset, aren't we? Is this the same friend who was asking for snow to be sent in March? It's not so much later, and not that unusual for snow to fall in April, my dear friend. It was forecast as well, for Sunday, so they're telling you all they can. Are you ok, there? You seem to be stressing out for some reason! I'm sorry to hear you're coming down with a cold and sore throat, but that's not the fault of the snow, my friend... more likely the sunny weather and rain. Frost kills off germs, I think you'll find. Wrap up warm, and take lots of fluids, including lemon juice, if you have some, and you'll soon be right as rain. I'm posting one of my more colourful photos for you, in the hope it will make you feel a bit better. Take care, Gabs... love and hugs. xxxx

nope no snow here sorry cant take any pics of snow. But then again its only April so it can still snow any where even up in May in some places in the states. Dont think it has to do with clobale warmimg either Has to do with the jets streams. Tqalked to my brother the otehr day he lives 500 miles north of me and he was getting a good snow storm . But tehn when you live in the high desert ya never think on snow I dont if we see any in Dec or Jan we are doing good But the west mountains always get the snow so it dont get to drop into the valley, Mountains 10,000 feet vally floor is a little over 2,000 feet

My Garden Under April Snow - A view up through my garden, during April Snowfall 6/4/08.
Wow... thank you for all that information, my dear friend. I learn a little each day... fascinating. Our hills (don't qualify as mountains) are pure white at the moment, and the trees on them are green. It's quite a pretty contrast. Another pic for you, my friend... hope you like it. All I can say Darkwing, is fascinating. The pictures are totally beautiful and I wish I lived there. You are sooooo lucky to have such a breathtaking view out of your windows, and I can't wait to see some summer pictures of this completely beautiful countryside. I don't think I'd mind the snow so much if I could look at that all winter, just plain gorgeous photo's and thank you so much for sharing them. Oh yes, and by the way, I saw more than just an orb in the one picture and check out your #11 discussion with that picture, am I seeing something else in this one too?......take care sugarplum.

You must be seeing something I missed there my friend, because I had only spotted things in Response 2, second photo, response 4 and response 14. I shall go right away and check out no. 11. So many people can see things in these pictures... it's just like the Little Mite pics I took. Yes, I'm lucky to have a beautiful view from both front and back, and to wake each morning to look upon the back view of the garden and field. Can't stay any longer... got to check our No. 11. Brightest Blessings and thank you so much for your contribution. x

WOW... you're so right. I'd been looking mainly at the garden, but although there are a couple in the foreground, there are many more, really obvious ones in the trees surrounding the field, at back, right-hand side, and to the left of that. Sheeeeeeesh, I have a lot of company here! That explains something which was said to me last summer, by a friend. Thank you!!!

I have to say first of all, that is a beautiful photo, its gorgeous really impressed with that. I am in UK too, when I got up this morning we just had rooftop snow, but the sun has been out all day and so it was melted within an hour. It is very cold though, so do not know if we will get anymore, I did not even know that this was coming.

Snow Around the Church - A view of the snow, looking across to the Church, which is on a hill.. April 6th 2008
They did forecast it ahead. It's stopped here now and a bit brighter but there's still plenty of it lying. Apparently, it worked its way down from the north overnight... I'm just fourteen miles from the south coast, and Brighton had it too this morning, if not worse than us. I'm glad you liked the photo... I'll post another for you, which you might enjoy. I took heaps! Brightest Blessings my friend, and thank you for your contribution. We're to expect more snow tomorrow by all accounts.

Yes, it does, and I'm glad you got your snow, at last. We'll probably get what you have now, during the night, as they forecast showers of it here through the night. What snow is left, has frozen over now, so it's there now at least until morning. Strange weather. x

Last year we had snow on April 19th, I believe. That is why I am not really certain we are safe yet. I lost my cherry crop last year, and I tend to count on having them to munch. We had sun yesterday, sun today, windy both days, and I think we may have rain tomorrow. It is supposed to be April showers bring May flowers. I have several fruit trees in my city yard. I just keep pretending I am out on a farm.

Garden In April Snow - Polyanthus showing through the snow, on April 6th, 2008.
It depends whether it was a rare occurrence to have snow on April 19th, I guess. I think the last time we had snow in April must have been almost twenty years ago, so let's hope you're lucky this year. There is a lot of blossom about because of the mixed rain and sun, so you should have a good crop as long as it doesn't get ruined again. You might just be able to see the Polyanthus in this one! Brightest Blessings, my dear friend, and thank you for your input. x

The Garden under April Snow - The Garden under snow... April 6th, 2008.
Yes, we are lucky, because it makes everything look so beautiful. Added to the fact that there is a lot of pink cherry blossom, and japonica blossom out at the moment, the colours, mixed with white, are quite dramatic, if not slightly odd. Brightest Blessings and thank you for our contribution. Here's another pic for you.

I was stunned to open the curtains on Sunday morning and see the blizzard raging outside. The host of golden daffodils that looked so lovely on Thursday afternoon, now bent and broken under the weight of snow was quite depressing.

Daffodils and Polyanthus In Snow - Some daffodils and polyanthus in the snow.. 6th April 2008
My daffodils suffered the gales and rain, and were already on their way out, but the snow certainly helped them on their way. There was something quite magickal about the colour of the spring flowers and blossoms beneath a blanket of snow. You can see some polyanthus to the right of this picture and some daffodils drooping in the centre. Brightest Blessings, my friend, and thank you for your contribution.

I find it a pretty picture as well, so I'm posting another for you. In this one, the bench is close to my neighbour's house wall, but I like the Japonica Blossom in it, so thought you might too. Snowy April Morning - A snowy April morning in my garden... 6/4/08.
We didn't actually wake up to it. It was clear at eight this morning, but by a quarter past ten, it had snowed like mad and started settling. My Granddaughter was in Essex this morning, in Chelmsford, and she said it had snowed, but not settled there, so perhaps that's why Gabs didn't like it. We still have some here, which had frozen over by eight o'clock, and we're forecast showers tonight, so I don't know if we'll have more tomorrow. I quite like it. There's no wind, so it's not that cold feeling. I'll leave you an extra pic as well, my friend. Brightest Blessings. xxxx

It's hard to believe that it has the snow in UK. The weather seems to be very strange lately. Some southern places in my country had suffered the heavy snow in winter which it's not so normal. I think we have to do something good for our planet. As it will lead to any unusual weather and it's bad for us at the end.

Yes, it's hard for me to believe too, my friend, especially in the part of the UK I live in. It's usual for Scotland, the North and the Midlands to get it, but we never have anything to speak of here. However, I don't think it's so much global warming or harm to the planet, as a changing of seasons. They seem to be going on later these days. Time will tell. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution.
