woohoo.. today i was really excited after i woke up because my was comin in. So i logged in to online banking and checked me statement.. and you know wat.. only to find out that i should have got more.. Last week i worked like a dog mate.. i worked really hard.. i had to cover half of my other mate's job because his dead line was close and he couldn't complete it cause he wasn't well.. In order to get both our jobs done.. i had to take home the remaining of my work to finish and i was up till like 4-5am.. Why can't people be nice and give you little extra for the effort you put in.. Like a bonus or something.. ? Do you guys feel like you have to do more work than what your contract actually requires to? Do you guys feel that you also fall under the over worked and under paid category? I like my job but sometimes it make me feel like i wanna quit and go and look for a job somewhere else.. but then i'd have to start all over again.. all that time and effort i have spent here in this company to make a name for myself all that is goin to go away.. and i have to start from the bottom.. getting eyed and pushed around.. I wish people gave more credit to how hard you work and give good pay.. so living becomes more easier and work become fun..

I think you are absolutely right. This happens in most of the workplaces. It's not only my experience but I seen so many people who works hard but they are told to work harder. And no one wants to tell some lazy person to work as they just cannot finish the work in time or even properly. So, who are the people slogging? The one who works hard.

I definitly feel like I was overworked yet underpaid, and I'm guessing most people feel that way also. I had worked at a job for 3 years and I pretty much gave everything I had to hopefully get some kind of bonus or promotion, but it never happened. I came to work everyday early or on time, did my duties, and even put in a little extra effort. I worked my scheduled days every week including 5am shifts and also covered those who didn't show up. My boss would call me at least 2 or 3 times a week on my days off or days I already worked looking for someone to cover shifts and I also accepted no matter what. It seemed like I could never get a break it really frustrated me especially since I obviously was going no where! It's really hard to manage, getting no credit or bonus on how much work people put into what they do, its also really frustrating so I know how you feel!

I am definitely overworked and underpaid! I teach in one of the universities here in our city. I love the job, no doubt. However, if I am going to look into the financial aspect of my work, I get frustrated. We are only paid for the hours we actually teach. We are not paid for the time spent preparing for the lessons, preparing and checking quizzes, exams and assignments and other working papers. We are also not paid extra for time spent for remedial classes that we conduct nor for time spent for consultation. Just like you, I love my job but sometimes it makes me want to quit and look for a better paying job. My love for my job and the fun I get from it is not enough for me to survive.

I could relate to you 100%, my work starts 8:30am and ends around 8:00 in the eveing. My salary just covers my working time from 8:30 in the morning to 5:30pm, but my work really cant be finished 5:30 thats why i have to stay at work until around 8 to finish all of my work. I havent even eaten on time from (lunch to dinner) eversince i started working. My life has been like this already for almost 1 year and i think it would be better if i find another job where people would can appreciate my extra effort. I mean if you just look at it, its really just unfair. You work much harder than those people who have easier task and those who go out much earlier but they even have much higher salary than yours. When you work so hard and dont get paid rightly is just like throwing away your health just for nothing. :( I guess its not nice being a martyr, its just like exerting all your effort just for nothing.. :(

Yes I do wish the same thing sometimes too but really does not feel like it will happen but the key is to remain positive or to search for something that will earn you more and hope for the best in any situation.

we overwork and underwork..overwork in the sense that it is not excessive turn out but mere obeying the boss, doing boss's personal works, acting obedience, So basically it is negative work. Underwork..we are doing a very little positive work that increases turn out and improves the productivity of our country..Whoever is more loyal and does more personal works of the boss is the most efficient and makes a good money and name for himself.

I feel I was underpaid comparing with the depreciation of currency. Actually I am planning on job hunting for I began to dislike my current job full of meaningless work.

I am paid by double when over worked. It's a legal regulation in China. But I know that there're many private companies don't comply this. And they could pay the workers aboveboardly, for having no leader to manage. Exploiting is still exist.

I used to work for the popular hotel string of the marriot and embassy suites. Noble investments, was the company. I was always overworked and felt like I was cheated out of my money. I worked (on average) one hundred and thirty four hours per week. It was a terrible work schedule, but one i must admit I had worked. The pay was not enough. Out of two weeks on average I would get $800.00 when I should have been receiving atleast $1000.

I go the other direction actually. I'm underworked rather than overworked. My current job pays well for me being a college student, but over a 6 week period this winter they gave didn't give me any shifts. In fact I worked half a shift to cover for a coworker when the coworker called me. $40 made in 6 weeks. How does someone survive on that? I had to dig into all of my savings funds including my car repair savings and begin selling off possessions to make ends meet. They're about to lose one of their best workers because they can't schedule worth a damn. After those 6 weeks they would call me to work shifts during the week which they know I never do (i have classes) and fill all the shifts on the weekends..which is the only time I can work. Absolute absurdity that bosses can get away with things like this. So in summary, I'm not over worked and under paid, but rather I am under worked and under paid. Which I believe is far worse.

Over work and underpaid, this seems quite common nowadays! For me,I work more than 12 hours a day,I get up at 6,and stay up late with my work, maybe till 11 or 12 pm.But when it comes to the salary, quite small! Sometimes,I feel exhausted, but I really like my work, and I know it's sort of a promissing creer,so,still working on it!

Hi Jungtrouble Aren't we all? Considering all the expensive things going on right now for all..Gas,food and housing..its a wonder we all aren't living on the streets..the only ones getting rich are the ones running the companies..so unless you want to be someones sugar mama or daddy!..you have to work harder for them to get richer...
