Does Anyone Else Think Half The Time On The Show That Paula Is Drunk?

I have been watching her every year and it seems like the nights she has the wildest outfits on that she is in party mode. She stumbles over her words, is awkward in movement and doesn't have alot of intelligent things to say. Has anyone else noticed this?

So drunk or high not really but heavily medicated yes. I use to think the same thing. I always said she was a pill head now I feel a little bad because I was right but for the wrong reasons.

It was in 2005 and it was a minor accident. However, I could not find anything on the internet about DUI. If you could find an article about that to post I would like to see it.

Paula seems to stammer a little more nowadays, but she's definitely not drunk. She seems to be like the party type, sometimes standing up and gyrating her body to the song sung by the contestants, but I think you can forgive her for that since she herself is a professional singer. I'd say she usually comes across as the most kind-hearted and least critical of all the judges. Randy looks to me like the more objective one, while Simon is the critical one who has a habit of going to the extreme in his judging, so I guess Paula, being in the middle, is playing the balancing act between the two. I think Paula is also judging the contestants from a singer's perspective.

I think she is a lot more alert this year than last year as I thought she was spaced out most of the time. But I read above that she has an illness so that could be why. But this year she seems a lot more awake than last year.

According to interviews that I have seen Paula do she suffers from chronic back pain. She is constantly in pain and has to take pain meds for that reason. That is why sometimes she seems out of it.

Paula has to take medication for an illness. I wonder if the medication makes her not be able to function with her thoughts properly. I do not think she is out partying.

i'm not a paula abdul fan. but i think she's the type of judges contestants by looking for the positive side of the person's performance or personality. she, unlike simon, would rather dwell on what's good about the contestant so she won't get to be "judged" by the audience. this makes the randy-paula-simon tandem really effective in a way that they balance each other out.

No, she's not drunk or high or anything like that. I think she is just not able to arrange her thoughts properly and can't seem to express her opinions in a proper, articulate manner. Maybe sometimes she simply doesn't know what to say and forces out anything which comes to mind which is why it comes out all choppy and incoherent. Some people are like that. Oh well, she's part of the entertainment I suppose!
