Reply or Read.. What is your major activity

Half the time when i log on to Mylot I end up reading the discussions rather than replying to them. By the time I read the entire discussion, what the starter has talked about, what the other members have replied, I end up with nothing more to add to the discussion since what I think of had already been posted. Another setback is that I completely lose my train of thought by the time I reach the end.So what do you all do.. Read or Reply more?

I think the majority of what I do is all evened out. I try to contribute in each category that I have in my own interests as well as contributing to those who have not yet had a reply on their postings. I try to go back and reply to those who have replied to mine own, as well as reply to a reply from one of my own replies.

As you can see, it's not always done in a timely manner. It's not hard to get sidetracked here as well as any other commitments you may have.

I reply first than I will read the other replys to the discussion. Even if there is a reply the same as mine it will be worded different than the way I put it. I do like to read the other replys but I always wait until I have posted my reply to the discussion.

I know the way the person has written will differ from what I write. But I always think.. "What I want to say is already posted even though it is in different words the meaning is the same.. Why should i repost it?". My way of thinking is sort of negative I think..

I usually end up replying to conversations that have no responses yet. Although, I do find times that I end up reading the whole discussion and same as you, my response has already been covered.

We are sailing in the same boat, sort of. I thought I was the only one to have that habit.. Thank God I have got company ;-)..

I have been reading more than replying. I'm new enough I have been trying to find my way around the site. Then I start to read and like you, what I was going to add was already posted. Then I feel like I'm just copying. This time, I wanted to be heard.

Yeah.. I am also a newbie here. I did not start reading all discussions for finding my way around here.. Rather majority of them are really interesting to read especially the replies of the members.

i read all discussion first. I usually not read its responses. Then if i feel that i can reply to this discussion then i reply in details. If i don't have knowledge for that topic then i leave it alone. And search another topic.

Thats good. I really should cultivate the habit of replying first and then reading the replies. I have started to follow your way from this discussion onwards :-)..

Reply definitely my first goal on mylot.I like to reading a discussion first, and definitely want to replay with my own comment. Sometimes i comment on other people's response. I just want to reply everytime i saw a discussion. But there were times when i just don't want to touch keyboard and end up not replying at all...:)so i guess it's just depend on what my mood really is.

I usually just read what the person who started the discussion wrote. Then after I do that I chime in with my opinion on the topic at hand. because after all you are answering them, not everyone else who may have posted up their view on the topic.

Well in an instance such as this where the response is going to be a personal experience or choice, it's easier to respond regardless of what someone else has already posted. Now, if someone is asking how to fix something, looking for an answer to something definitive,etc... then I will read through most of the responses to see if anyone has answered the way I would. If they have, then there's no need for me to answer with the same thing. I admit that if there are over 5 pages, I won't read through them all though.

My dear, whether you respond a lot or read a lot you gain a lot as well. It only depends on what is your goal everytime you visit my lot. As for me, of couse, I want to earn a little amount here. I used to be entangled to reading from people's discussion and would just continue up to the last person who responds but I noticed at the end of the day, my post is only a few but I wanted to earn maybe $0.20 or $0.30 in a day. So, I changed my habit. I turned all my friends' notifications on and I just started responding to their discussions. That way, I have been meeting my conservative goal of $0.20 - $0.30 daily while having a little time to set myself to reading mode. And without making myself looking stupid by posting fluffies just to make a lot of posts.

I read all my friends posts when they start a discussion. If I am responding I prefer to read all the posts first, which can take some time if they go over 3 pages. That's why I like to get into discussions early. But then I want to go back and read what other people have added after my response. If something you wanted to add has already been posted, you can always refer to the fact that you agree with previous posts, and then you can add a bit more about why you agree.

Hi Zeraphina, If I want to respond to discussions, I go first to the discussions my friends started, and then to discussions from my interest, then to new discussions, then to hot topics. I answer my friends first because we all receive notifications from their postings, so by looking at the emails, you already know if the topic interests you or not. If it does, then you can think of a nice response right away. By picking discussions from your interests, you can immediately come up with a good response or a better one because that's your interest...meaning, you know more on this or you an authority on this thing and you can add more ideas on this. Even though we may have the same answers to a discussions, we have different reasons for giving that response and we have different the ways of looking at the discussions. As for me, I enjoy both reading and repying to the discussions. What I didn't earned in points...I earn it through information and knowledge. It's a win-win situation.

Both. I read all the responses and comments that have been given to a discussion. I sometimes just respond to the discussions without reading the responses and comments by other members. I always end up giving something to the discussion. bourne

its almost even for me ..... when ever go to a new discussion i try to read and find out the opinion of different people .... and sometimes wonder how do people think so differently ..... by the time i end up reading ...like others i figure out there is nothing much to add ..... so i try to do my best and add something if i can!

I reply and read equally, since I need to read to reply. But I like replying. Even if I have the same point as some one else it just strengthens that side of the argument.

I typically end up reading most of them but I also reply to a lot of them and if someone has already posted something that I was going to say then I post it again anyway so that people know what I think for sure becaues I could word it different.
