When I was a little girl my father used to go rabbiting and sometimes he would take my sister and I, one of the towns was a little town called Kilmore, it is north of Melbourne, today there is a freeway that takes you there in about half an hour, when I got there I was very surprised, it hadn't changed one little bit, the main street was exactly the same, no big department stores or maybe they were away from the main street, I am not sure but it really was a trip back in time for me, I wouldn't even mind movies to this little town that had many memories for me...is there many little towns arounf these days that just have not changed into the hussle bussle big department store towns, the old bakery in this town even smelt like the old bakeries absolutely beautiful.......

Kilmore rings a bell to me in my younger days as I think I used to go there with my neighbours across the road to visit their son on weekends who was attending what I also "think" was called Assumption College where he boarded.....but not quite sure! I love little towns and finally went to Maldon a few years which I had heard of so much and did enjoy the day and even came home with a few knick-knacks. The bakeries are the best in these towns and you seem to be able to smell them as you are walking up the street.

that must have been wonderful, it is rare that you can go back and everything is the same as it was or as you remembered it. What a treat.

That sounds very nice. I love to go in old places like that and be able to bring a little bit of the old times and history back. I remember going to mills and it smelled liked a old time bakery. I miss the old days even though I am not old enough to know a whole lot about them.

I know exactly what you mean lilaclady. I was born and raised in Scotland, in a little town called Peebles, and I am glad to say that town hasn't changed at all, except that a lot more people live there now. It still had only one main street, no department stores, and most of the store owners have passed their business on to family, so the same family names are still over the doors! How good is that? The town still doesn't have one traffic light!
I live in Australia now, but when I visit friends and family in the UK, I always make sure I visit my birth place, because it holds so many precious memories for me. I love the fact that it hasn't changed at all.

Yes the memories were wonderful, I can still see my dads car parked in that street with us kids in the back waiting to see what he would bring out of the bakery, it was alway beautiful fresh bread with other little treats...
