guitar or bass guitar?

I like guitar better. My friend plays bass and we always get into fights about what one is better. Reason I like guitar is because I play rock and metal and common, you never hear the bass.

The truth is that if you can play the guitar then you can play the bass as well... I think having short fingers will make it harder to play the bass than the guitar. Personally I prefer playing the guitar, but it all depends on you character...

I have tried to play a bass guitar that my brother-in-law had. He taught me a few notes on it. I have forgotten how to play it now though. I love the sound of a bass guitar over a regular guitar. I have small hands and short fingers also and it is very hard for me to play too.

I don't really have a preference, either one is fine with me. I actually learned to play the bass first, I've played it for 7yrs. now, and I taught myself to play guitar, and I've been playing it for 2 1/2 yrs now. The guitar is a little bit harder to play, its hard to get some of the chords, if you have short fingers, its harder, you'll just have to keep practicing as much as you can. Theres still some chords that I can't get, especially barre chords, those are hard, cause you have to stretch your fingers out...but practice, practice, practice...is all I can tell ya....good luck

I prefer playing guitar since I have never actually bought a bass but i think bass can be pretty impressive if you can play it well

Guitar sound better when you can play only a little, but when you can play so good it is on same line as guitar.

I don't think you need to know normal guitar to learn bass, or vice versa. once you know one, it will be easier to learn the other. I prefer playing standard guitar, as my hands are a bit small, and bass has huge scale, and the strings are enormous, and touger for me to work with.
