Absolutely. But, we stayed in ones that also had semi-private rooms with in-room bathing facilities. They were great! And far more affordable than hotels. This was in Belfast and in Chester, England. I would recommend them to anyone. I do understand the concern in the shared rooms and would advise that someone choosing that not have anything of great value with them. But, we had no problems at all in the rooms we had and we thoroughly enjoyed our stays in both locations.

Yes. I have stayed in several kinds of hotels over the years. I have not stayed in any in New York though. I have never been there before. Are they expensive to stay the night in? It is almost $100.00 per night here in Indiana for a decent one.

I have stayed in youth hostel accommodation and backpacker hostels. In Europe one was an old castle in Germany and another was a boat moored in Sweden. I have slept in large dorms of more than ten people and in small ones with only three other people and the room has had a private shower. I liked the hostels in Australia and one in Queensland had an outdoor swimming pool. I stayed in one in New Zealand with a spa pool. In Malaysia the hostel I stayed in was having trouble with bed bugs. Hotels in the USA in the big cities can be expensive so it is an excellent idea to stay in a hostel in New York. I stayed in some lovely hostels in California and standards were high. Have a great trip to exciting New York.

Hello friend. I have stayed in a hostel for one time. I have to say that it is nice and clean and cheap to stay in a hostel overnight than other hotels while travelling.
