For those of us who wear bras...when you get a new bra do you follow the suggested practice of hand washing your bras or do you just toss them in the washing machine with all the rest of your clothing?
I used to just toss them in until i bought some expensive bras which said never to wash in the machine. (love the bras) I've found since stopping using the machine to wash that my bras last a lot longer and the wires dont come out as fast

Machine Wash other than my one £20 bra. I do put them in a washing bag and then put them in, so they are slightly protected.

I have always just washed them in the washing machine. And so far I have had no problems with doing that.

No I don't and besides I don't have wshing machine in my apartment. Well even if I do, I still won't throw it in a washing machine. It could ruin my bras with those hooks circling for how many times in a washing machine. I just hand-wash them, soak for a while and then hand-wash again.

I hand wash my under garments. My mom told me that if i used the washing machine then my under garments will lose its elasticity and it will easily be destroyed.

i usually hand wash my bra whenever i wash my bra. it's true that bras last a lot longer when you're hand washing it rather than using a machine washing

I handwash it because usually, if I put in on the washing machine, sometimes the PAD will somewhat become distorted.

Actually I wash mine in the washing machine. I try to remember not to put them in the dryer, so I don't ruin the elastic, but most times I forget. Bras aren't that important to me. I am a member of the itty-bitty-committee
, and one of the perks is that we don't have to wear one all the time!!!

There's actually another word in that title, but MyLot doesn't like it, so I shortened it.

I need to be more bra savvy. I had heard it isn't good to machine wash and dry but none the less I toss them in anyway. Then I sit and wonder why they have no support! I will be more careful next time as now I know it makes a difference.

I wasnt too savvy about them either. I got this explanation from the sales girl when i picked up my expensive bras (ok $50 is expensive to me) about how they were supposed to hand washed and hung to dry. If you have to pack them in a suitcase to make sure to put socks or something in the cups so they dont get squished (it ruins the support in this kind of bra) and to never never turn the cups inside out.
I did what she said and i'm just shocked that Ive had them a year and any other bras ive had the wires come out within weeks and they arent as supportive.
I was visiting my grandma a couple weeks ago and i ended up buying a new one of the same type (la senza has them for about $50) because my grandma ran the one bra through the machine and the support wire snapped. they were definitly worth the $50 though!

i'd rather handwash as i think the washing machines may end up damaging my bras.

I machine wash them in warm water. I do not think that I would want to wear a bra that was not properly washed.

I only consider it to be properly washed if it is machine washed in warm water... I know that fungus and other things can grow on the bras and cause problems and I would prefer to have them very clean. I do not trust the hand wash to do that.

I usually just toss my bras in with the rest of the laundry but instead of putting them in the dryer I hang them over the shower door to dry. So far I have not had any problem with them at all. My daughter buys expensive bras and washes and dries them the same way I do and she hers seem to be holding up just fine...(no pun intended) Ha.

I throw them into the wash and then dry them as well. Both of which are terribl practices, but I just do not have the time to really handwash those things and wait around for them to dry all the time. I know it would be a better frugal living tip because I wouldn't be spending money on bras all the time, but you know how that goes.

That would be a good frugal living tip. I know i take the time to wash and rinse them right before i shower. Then i hang them in the shower while im showering so they get rinsed a bit extra. I always make sure i have alteast one clean one i can wear while the others dry.
