what makes this one different than any other world wide fund raiser? why should middle class north american donate any more money? we are so tightly pulled already due to the rising costs of everything...
instead of singing last night, all those big stars should have donated about a grand each!

Yes, our teen daughter donated and my husband and I each matched her donation. I don't know that it is any different- they simply raise money to give to some specific charities.
Many of those stars do donate their own funds, are active in (some of them head up) the charities they talk about, and give of their time and talent if nothing else.
Actually, one thing that IS different about most other similar fundraisers...they are using the funds globally but also give right here in the US.

I was looking forward to watching this and forgot all about it. I particularly wanted to see Rascal Flatts (of course) and have been beating myself all day for missing it. I agree with you...everyone is asking for donations and making us feel bad because we need every dollar we have to take care of ourselves.

I saw parts of it, but it had a hard time keeping my attention. I wonder if those stars may have donated some money as well as appearing on the show. I understand that Brad Pitt is a very big advocate of third world proverty. This show is the largest watched Television show in North America so there is no surprise they would use it as a vessel to solicit money. Fortunately the cause is a great one.
