this was a few years ago that this happened and it was such a freak accident. we were talking about things that just happen that is somthing you would never think of and i thought about this and was wondering what you all would think of it. this guy was driving down the interstate in his jeep with one of the tires attached to the back. you all know the type. well a family had a flat tire and pulled off the road. it was in july texas heat, no ac in there car. while the man of the family was changing the tire the mom and the 2 kids one in a car seat and the other about 5 years old was standing on the side of the road up in the grass part a good 6 feet away from the car. so they were not close to the road. the youngest was in the car seat it was one of the detachable ones. well the guy in the jeep was driving home. his tire just for no reason came off and flew down the road he didnt even know. it stuck the kid in the car seat. killed instintly. well the guy got home and was watching the news hours later and saw the accident on there. he went to go to the store and relized his tire was gone. he called the police right then. he found out it was him. he turned his self in. he felt horriable. he was looking at charges too. he tired to help the family he talked with them. they were not mad at him it was a freak accident. some wanted him in jail though. not the family but just strangers that saw the news cast etc. what do you think

It sounds as though it was a very unfortunate, and tragic incident, and perhaps the driver should be fined for not having checked the security of his spare wheel frequently enough, but I don't think he should go to jail. If the family accept that it was an accident, and he turned himself in, then I think he's repentant and am sure he will check his spare tyre in future. It sounds more like a fate that was waiting to happen to me. Brightest Blessings.

I don't think he deserves jail. There are so many criminals that have done much worse that are walking the street. It was a freaky thing that happened, but I do not believe he did anything to make it happen. It would really be a hard call.

I think it was definitely just a freak accident too. the poor guy didn't even know it had happened. It wasn't like he knew it happened and sped away ro something like that.

I don't think he should go to prison. It's not like he ment to do it.Now if he knew at the time it had happen that would be different. But as soon as he found out it was his tire he went to the police.Does that sound like someone who ment to do something like that? Now someone who didn't care about what happened to the family wouldn't have bothered going to the police.
