Or at least it felt like that... You see I stopped at starbucks yesterday:) I apologize to the people that go regularly and love it, but the prices are really crazy and the coffee... well you guys know I'm not into coffee anymore, but I had to sip hubby's cup just to see if I could figure out why it was so expensive. And.. yeah... not justifiable LOL Anyway, after almost having a heart attack at what we had to pay, stopping to think if it really wasn't better to get a second mortgage... we decided that our regular coffee is pretty good and it still allows us to be second mortage free LOL DO you guys like starbucks? WHy? Other than all the choices do you feel it's really better?

I really don't see what is so great about Starbucks coffee. It is way to strong and costs too much. McDonald's now has the latte and cappachino coffee for $2.00 and that is even too much for a cup of coffee even if it does have extra cream in it. Yeh I know it's more than just extra cream but I'm not paying the extra for fancy named coffee.

We no longer can get cappuccino at McDonald's, they built a new one. I will agree that their regular coffee is good though, and not overpriced.

I drink the General Food International Coffees - make at home! Add some cool whip and just perfect! They used to ahve a double chocolate mint flavor which was fantastic, i have written to them several times in past yeras asking for them to bring it back, but they havn't. But the Hazel Nut, the French Vanilla and the double chocolate are really good! $2.99 on sale at Target and you get dozen or so cups of hot coffee!

I know what you are saying! I mean, gee whiz - it is expensive! I wrote an article about little ways to save money that you wont' even miss in my blog called Coffee Break Whatever Save Money - link in my profile - and one of hte things in the article "SAVE $2,553 A YEAR - ANYONE CAN - IT'S SIMPLE, EASY AND FREE! Just Do the Math - $3.75 for a cup of Starbucks (at least, often more!) times 365 days a year (cup a day) is $1368 a year you spend on a cup of coffee a day - I sure can think of many ways to use $1368 dollars than for a cup of coffee each day! What a nice vacatio that'd make or that much farther out of debt! There are more things in this article, but the point is you are spending money and don't even realize it - do you still want to do that? Good for you for realizing it! What are you going to do with your "extra" money?!!

LOL Actually none of us have the habit to go there, so we're already saving money. We just had to take hubby's aunt to visit a friend and that was the only place around, at least the one we could find. Personally I don't even drink coffee, but a bottle of water was so expensive I thought the bottle was made of gold LOL Hubby used to drink much more coffee than what he does know, but he still has coffee once in a while when he's working, just rarely. At home we make coffee, and tea for everyone but me LOL but I do drink a lot of water. In any case, I had never been in starbucks before and I'm pleased to announce I won't be going in the future either:)

I don't drink coffee either - acid and oils to strong for my stomach! I only go into one to get gift cards for my daughter. hard to buy her anything for gifts... can't afford what she wants and she doesn't need (or want!) what I can afford! So I just get gift cards for her and she loves it!

The Starbucks we buy is built into our fun money so I don't feel bad buying it. We onyl buy Starbucks on the weekend, usually just Saturdays. Personally Folgers, Maxewell House, etc taste disgusting. I do make Cafe Bustello at home, which is pretty good, but only when I want Espresso and milk. When I don't feel like making coffee or what something different that I can't make at home - I go to the coffee shop. Starbucks is not the only coffee house I frequent. They are all priced about the same though.

Of course my opinion is very personal, and as I said there are people that actually enjoy their coffee. Myself I felt it was such a big thing for not such a good coffee :) We do make coffee at home. I don't drink it, but hubby does, and he doesn't like maxwell house or folgers either:) HE didn't like the one he had at starbucks though.Or more like for the price I guess we all expected better.

i should agree with you... the price is really too much and that's the reason why me and my hubby don't drink coffee... and if we want to drink tea or hot chocolate, we make it ourselves at home... it is much cheaper and we can save heaps of money for other purposes such as paying for our mortgages...

Now you're talking! I like hot chocolate, but like you guys I like when I make it myself at home. I make it just the way I like it, as opposed to the ones we get outside - those sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't:) It's really so expensive and not worth that second mortgage :):)

Funny tho, that as expensive as it is...the place is just booming! How (and even WHY!) do people afford it or fit it into their budgets!?!?!?!

I have never liked starbucks, I do Dunkin Donuts on occasion but prefer my homemade Gevalia. It is a bit more expensive then regular store brands but way cheaper than starbucks and better tasting then you can normally buy. I think it is a good alternative.

I remember seeing dunkin donuts here but most closed, I don't think that they had too many people going - I can understand those donuts are way too sweet even for me LOL I know of only one that is still open in here. Hubby is the only regular coffee drinker in here, but he also prefers the one we make at home.

Wonder if Dunkin' Donuts is giving Starbucks a run for their money with their new lineup of coffees?

I don't drink coffee, especially not hot coffee. But if I did, this is where I would get mine: http://caffino.com/ However, I have heard quite a few people say that the stuff they sell at McDonalds is just as good as Starbucks any day. That does not apply to the iced coffee, though, as I tried one of those and the McDonald' one was terrible whereas the Starbucks one was merely bad. Caffino's iced coffee drinks ROCK! They also cost around $5 which is ridiculous. So, there are about 5 valid reasons why I don't get them: 1) I don't have a mortgage and don't want one. 2) That much caffeines is, I am sorry, NOT in my opinion good for us. 3) Too sweet! I considered artificial sweeteners harmful to the health, and use real sugar in MODERATION, lol. 4) Too many calories. What, 700 calories in a serving. I've lived for years without ingesting that many in a day! 5) I don't like the whole "scene" where everyone is trying to be snobbish and trendy. Although I don't drink the stuff, I do like to use a little good quality coffee as a flavoring occasionally, especially on ice cream, so I have tried to educate myself on the topic, and learned that coffee drinking in the US has quite an interesting, and to me shocking, history. I prefer to live, but if I decided to die, I guess I would kill myself with the Caffino's. Lol, not really. I want to live!

I'm right there with you :):) I don't drink coffee either - in any way - although I used to when I was back home. Hubby does drink coffee but not that much anymore and he does prefer the one we make home. As for me I don't like the taste anymore, no even as a flavoring. But I make it for hubby and in the summer I make ice coffee for him and my daughter - a tiny bit of coffee, lots of iced water and lemon.

Arka that is a new one, as I never heard of putting lemon in the coffee. I have, however, served lemon cake with vanilla ice cream and put a splash of expresso over the hot fudge on the ice cream.

I Love the aroma of fresh coffee in the mornings, but can't stand the flavor, which is fine as I can't drink it cause of the oils and acids in it - ulcer time! But that aroma is sure the best! I even got a scented candle from Party Lite of the aroma of "coffee cream" (I think that is the name) and it smells like coffee brewing! It is really nice! But just give me the iced tea - nothing beats that!

Ok Twin you had me going then with the Title I thought then that you had to take it out to support your In Laws because they have not been keeping up to Date I do not like Starbucks and I do not like their Coffee's so you are not alone on that one and as for the Prices well I could buy a Meal from that it is disgusting so you are not alone in this and I suggest you do stay away as you really do not need a second Mortgage the same as I do not want to fall behind with my rent lol

I am not sure why, but I like the coffee we make at home better than any other place. I would have a hard time at Starbucks, it would so totally intimidate me. I did get fond of Dunkin Donuts iced coffee one summer, with lots of sugar and cream. It tends to be very waistline unfriendly. I drink my hot coffee black. We usually have half caffeinated, half decaf. Avoiding that second mortgage.

I confess that when I used to drink coffee back home I like the one's at the cafe better. We did have an expresso machine at home, but it wasn't exactly the same. That's the only coffee I used to drink - expresso. I don't drink coffee now. Hubby still does drink it but not as often as he used to. Black as well. Good thing to see that most of us, don't really think that fancy coffee is worth the second mortgage :)

It's very hard for us to buy a new house. It is very expensive. Most of general workers need to dividee payments, which will abate their loaden. And ,they could own a steady room to live."Home" could give our safty,or ----.So,don't be worry,we should struggle for your goal.Good luck to you!
