I'm off on my hols tomorrow and have checked the oil, water, tyres, power steering fluid, ironed and packed clothes, no need for passport as only going within UK, oh better water the plants before I go, make sure neighbour has spare key for feeding pets. What last minute things do you before going away? Do you find it stressful? Do you get excited? Please share. Ellie :D PS As away from tomorrow any responses I receive after this I will respond to upon my return but I will respond. Ellie :D

Thank you so much - I am looking forward to the break believe me, not much sun around but a different town a different beach, lots of fresh air and can't do Silverstone just yet but will do a bit of jet skiing if I get the chance! Ellie :D

I didn't expect you to comment. I shall have to leave another one welcoming you back now. LOL. Personally I always check the doors and plugs before leaving and then worry for the next 100 miles that I've left the iron on. I reckon that by the time that I have gone that far the house will have burnt down and I don't need to worry any more!! Have a fantastic time. Jet skiing I read somewhere. Take it easy. Mind you, it's been a long time since there was a female F1 driver. Get in some practice and who knows?!@!

I make sure I have new underwear :) It is a step up the clean underwear thing that moms used on us. And that I have enough change in my pockets, enough tic tacs and that my cell phone, and battery charger are with me.

Hi Shelly, Oh yes the charger is very important and the most forgotten item for a lot of people, my younger daughter being so bad she keeps spares at others houses LOL. Oh yes mother was right you must have clean underwear, you never know LOL. Ellie :D

I hope you have a great holiday, I got to go away in 2005 and that was the first time in 30 years or more. I would love to travel but I just do not have the money for it.

Hi I'm back. Had a lovely time thank you. Wow thats a long time between breaks away. The only reason I managed it was by collecting tokens from a newspaper and got the holiday for £101 ($200) between four of us so only worked out at £25 each so too good a chance to miss else I would be home like you too. Lets hope some good fortune blesses you and you are able to get a good holiday soon. Ellie :D

I do all kinds of things. I make sure to pay all of my bills and make sure everything is turned off in the house. I also make sure to have the post office to hold my mail. I water the plants and garden also. I also make sure someone is able to watch my home also.

Hi Steph, That pretty much covers everything really. I always check and recheck though just in case I have forgotten something. I don't have to worry about the mail as the friend watching the house will pick that up each day when they feed the pets for me. Ellie :D

Sweets I can not remember since I had a vacation.. I always took a couple of weeks of in the summer so I could stay on the grounds at the horse shows.. And used to spend 2 weeks every summer taking my little ones camping when the X could seem to get away from work..I since realize WHO he was working ON! xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

My best friend is a horselover and she never gets to go away other than to horsetrials either. I very rarely go away myself but managed to get a really good deal and thought I'd take my son to a holiday camp as its school holidays here. Ellie :D

Hi Littleowl, Timing obviously wasn't right this time eh! I had a wonderful break thanks and you live in a very beautiful part of the country. Weather was good, bit windy but sun was shining which was the main thing. I hope you enjoyed having lots of fun with your darling grandson. Maybe next time eh! Ellie :D

It will always excite me and like 3 days before I am packed already and make a checking list to be sure! hahhaha..thats true! I don't find it stressful at all! I have been checking your list and for me If I am going somewhere, I will include my camera, put the stop on the mail, and the newspaper! and put at least one light on a timer.

Hi, You have reminded me that I need to charge my camera ready, thank you, its sat on my computer desk but I hadn't done it so thank you. Three whole days, boy that is organized well done you, I still have the toiletries to put in but was still finishing packing as I posted. I am lucky in that a friend will be in everyday to look after my animals so they will also sort the mail so I don't have that worry or the timer issue really because I am not overlooked and have special blindds so that even when I am at home a feint glow shows through so I will leave just one light on. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

I usually get packed the day before ...if I am going for more then a week I have to have my mail stopped ...I always clean the house and before I leave do a walk through of my home to make sure everything is turned off! I do contact my neighbors just to watch the house a little. Hope you have a wonderful holiday!
