Does coughing a usuall thing when you quit smoking?

I have never been a smoker, so I do not know about the dry itchy throat. I have been around smokers that quit, as well as having some medical training. Yes, it is normal to develop a cough when you quit smoking. Your lungs are trying to get rid of all the chemical cement and goo in the lungs, now that they have a chance to get cleaned out.
