In fact thanking every response you recieve is againist the guidelines if you have read them. however, it might be polite to answer people with a few words if the response needs an answer. If the response doesn't include a question, and so if it doesn't need an answer at all you don't have to post a comment for it. Additionally, you might have asked some important question in your discussion and if there are not so many people able to answer it, then it deserves a thanks comment, or if someone has given a very long and detailed, informative response. To sum up, that means if you think a response needs a "thanks" message, then you should send that to them to thank for their efforts but you should avoid doing that all the times. For example, If I recieve a comment like "thanks for your response" for a long and detailed response I make, I would feel bad. Because if you are trying to thank me, I think it would be better to mention your own ideas about my response rather than saying an unsincere "thanks". It looks you are doing that just because you are obiligated, however, you aren't.

I agree with your views. I conclude that it is not a must as per guidelines to send a thanks note unless it deserves further discussion or an applause !

I try to leave a comment to whoever responds to my discussions, but when you have a very active discussion, sometimes it is hard, so I comment to a few that I think are good replies and not just 1 sentence.

I don't reply to every response, sometimes the answers are nearly the same so by answering one I have practically answered a few of them.

I most definitely tru to comment on every response,I receive to my discussion. I dont reply only when I dont have any more to say on the topic. I also comment something atleast in 4-5 lines, like one do to a response. If you post really good quality comments, you earn for that too. Cheers ! Nice day to you. Happy mylotting.

Well, Mylot guidelines say not to just say "thank you", so I try to leave at least a whole sentence, minimum, when a person replies. However, I won't reply to people who leave posts that are controversial or inflammatory. I try to stay away from posts like that. Or, if I have absolutely no idea what to say (like when someone just posts two or three word responses), I won't respond, either. I don't get a ton of responses on most of my discussions, so I usually can keep up.

whenever i post a new discussion and someone respond to it i try to give a comment as much as possible to their responses, its one way of keeping your previous discussions active, whenever i get the time to respond to everyone i do it, i also mark best response. i also make sure to rate every one with positive no matter how i oppose their opinions, its a free community anyway and they have the right to say what they have in mind, i guess its one way to get high reputation rating too.

I do my best to respond to every response that I receive, but there are some that fall below the radar. I will not respond to one word responses, responses that have nothing to do with the discussion, or mean and derogatory responses, even if I want to really badly in the last case. There are also some good responses that I will not respond to. If there is a response that is good, but basically similar to a previous response, I usually don't respond to it, for the simple fact the response would be the same. I never respond with simple a "Thank you". Not only does it not bring anything to a discussion, it is against the MyLot TOS. So no, its not a valid response.
