What type of shoes to you prefer to wear in the summer time? Open toe or closed toe shoes? I like sandles that show all of your toes and I like closed toe shoes, but I am not sure how I feel about the peekaboo type open toe shoes that only show your big toe, somehow those just feel wierd to me, like a sock with a hole in it. It's too bad too, because they look so cute on the shelf at the store, when ther isn't a foot in them.

All the cutest shoes in the stores seem to be open-toe! However, my toes are horrible for a very bad habit when I was younger (almost self-harm to my toes...) So for atleast 10 years, I won't be wearing open toes hehe. On the other hand, I have to say that open toe heels never do look as good on the feet as they look in the shop =[[ So for practicality, and just personal preference I prefer closed toe!

That's too bad. I hope you don't mind me asking, but now I really want to know, what did you do to your toes?
16 Apr 08
Well, you'd probably wish you didn't ask, but pulling off entire toenails... started off with ingrowing toenails, then I cut open the toe with needles to try get it out... ( I was only 8 or 9) then one day I pulled a entire nails off on a toe. It annoyed me, itching and hanging, so I kept repulling it, and then when fidgeting with other nails I did the same. On about 4 or 5 toenails now I have permanantly knobby toenails that may not ever grow back properly. I also bleed an abnormal amount... so from my nails they didn't stop bleeding for a few hours! Most people say they have bad feet, they haven't seen mine!

Oh my god. No offence, but that's bizarre. Didn't it hurt? You know what I saw once though, in I think Walmart, acrylic toe nails, just like the acrylic finger nails you can get. I guess you could always try useing those if you wanted to wear sandles.

I prefer not to wear any shoes at all in summer so when I do have to wear shoes they have to be very light and open so that I can almost feel as if I'm not wearing them. So sandals and flip-flops are my ideal summer shoe. For the same reason, I hate high-heeled shoes, which don't feel natural at all, and for me feel very uncomfortable and even dangerous! I also hate peekaboo shoes and don't see the purpose of them. What's the point of showing your toes while at the same time enclosing them and not giving your foot any freedom? I suppose some people would say that they look good and that's their purpose, but I disagree, I just think they look a bit daft. Hope I'm not offending anyone, I just have some strong views on footwear, lol!

I don't like peekaboo shoes once they are on either. One the shelf they look cute but once you put them on it's like they showecase your big toe, which is just wierd, it reminds me a a sock with a hole in it.

I have both kind of shoes and I wear the open toe shoe wear. I feel light and comfortable. My closed shoes are high-heeled shoes and it's a little bit of uncomfortable if I wear them especially on an all-day walking or just being outside. I see lots of stylish shoes these days especially it's summer. They all look nice.

I agree with you on the peep-toe shoes. I own one but I haven't really get the chance to wear it much often. As far as i can remember I only wore it for 2 times. It is nice to look at it but it's not really very comfortable. Now for the question, I really like wearing flip-flops and sandals during summertime. It's more refreshing and more convenient for the summer heat :D

Thanks for responding. I wish I could wear flip-flops but I can't. They hurt in between my toes.

Hi there Nykkee! Well, my choice for summer will be flip-flops. But between the two, open toe or closed toe shoes, I will go for the open toe one.

I think I may have already said this to someone in this discussion, but I wish I could wear flip flops, I can't because I can't handle the thing that goes in between your toes. It makes my feet bleed.

In the summer I am always in some type of sandal. Ii don't like my feet being restricted to a pair of closed shoes. I also like to go barefoot, but I don't do it as often as I used to, so it hurts. Personally, I love the peep-toe shoes. I think they are adorable. I have a few pairs.

I think peep toe shoes are really cute but they just feel wierd on my feet, and I find it a little wierd that way they only show one toe. My favorite thing to wear int he summer is various pairs of those cheap $10 shoes you can get at Walmart, they are hanging from hangers in one isle of the shoe section and there are all kinds of different styles.

I love both actually and it's hard to decide! But I tend to LOOK more at open-toe whereas actually I do put on more of closed toe shoes. I think open-toe shoes look cute but I seldom buy them! I prefer wearing something to completely cover my feet because I seldom have time for pedicure!

summer shoes - Show my toes! I don't care! lol
I don't really care if they're open toed or not. I wear what I feel comfortable in and if someone doesn't like how they look then they can divert their eyes somewhere else. lol I wear what I can afford and feel comfortable in.

You know if you go to a store like Walmart you can choose from a large selection of both open and closed toe shoes in the summer and they are all around the same affordable price. Then you can pick your shoes based on what you like instead of the price, because they are all priced pretty much the same.

I had a friend once who got addicted to wearing sandles and hated shoes and so she wore sandles all winter, with wooly socks, and we have alot of snow here in the winter.

Most of the time, I wear open-toe shoes during the summer. If I am going on a job interview during this season, I will wear closed up shoes. Even in the winter, I will wear open toe shoes.

It depends. Usually I wear closed-toe shoes. But on special occasions that I wanna feel extra sexy, I wear open-toe. Especially after a pedi.

In the summertime I really prefer to be barefoot, but if I must wear shoes I love the open toe kind. If I am going somewhere very casual I usually just wear flip flops but I always have several pairs of nice open toe sandals to choose from as well. It seems like if my toes are cool the rest of me is cooler as well.

Really? I can't stand the feeling of stuff getting stuck to the bottom of my feet if I walk around barefoot. I guess the bottom of your feel probably gets thicker if you do it all then time and then you wouldn't notice. I I can't wear flip flops because they make in between my toes bleed. :(

I agree with you, both open and closed sandals look great. I'm no sure about those odd 'peekaboo' ones, they are not very flattering.
