Are your children nosy?

My 7 year old is keenly aware of what is kept in the house. She is familiar with the contents of every closet and drawer. If she doesn't know what something is, she asks. When a special gift-giving occasion is coming up, I have to be very creative when hiding her gifts. I have actually gone so far as to hide her birthday presents in a picnic cooler in the back of the van. If I laugh about something on tv or the computer, my daughter has to know why. If I'm reading a book, she wants to know what it's about, then asks me to read it out loud to her. If someone calls me on the telephone, she wants to know who it is and what they want. I guess I'm happy that she takes an interest in me and what I'm up to and that she has a healthy sense of curiosity. The question I pose is this: Are your children nosy and do you set limits on their nosiness? Is there a point when their curiosity must be curbed?

My two boys, 9 and 8, are the kings of nosey. LOL! I can't do anything without them right there wanting to know every single thing that is going on. Conversations on the phone are out completely without them right there to listen and ask questions when i get off the phone. very annoying sometimes, but i guess it's a phase and I pray that one day they get over it and soon. LOL! God bless

Maybe you have to leave the room if you have something to say that you don't want them to hear? Mine seems to hear through walls. The other night I was laughing at a movie I was watching. The next morning my daughter asked, "Mommy, why were you laughing so loud last night?" Good grief! She was supposed to be asleep.

My two year old is equally as nosey as my twelve year old!! They are both girls and think they have to know EVERYTHING that is going on. Drives my hubby crazy! :)

Yes there has to be a limit on what they know like surprises birthday presents etc should be kept as a surprise, my eldest is 4 and yes is very nosey always asking why or what for everything, if its appropriate I will answer her I must admit though sometimes it is easier to just be honest and tell her what is in there or what im doing than explain to her why I have to keep it a secret or why she is not allowed to know. Mostly im easy going and if she wishes to know something I will tell her as I prefer not to lie to them but sometimes little white lies like where her birthday presents are hidden just have to be told lol!

What I really love is when she asks things like; Why is the dog bleeding on the kitchen floor or what are those? when I buy feminine products. I have offered truthful but vague explanations on these topics. Mostly, I don't mind too much about questions, as this is how she'll learn and some explanations are better coming from me. The thing that drives me crazy is her thorough exploration of the house.
