What a nice way to put it! I have ever been kidnapped and was lucky to gain my freedom when I suddenly lost the privilege to access the internet. Since then, I have been wary of being kidnapped.

Sometimes I have to play hookie! Or I will get nothing else done! At this rate I look forward to a day of pseudo senility when my virtual life and 'real' life become confused!

Oh good, you've been kidnaped too? We can be captives together! I've been off the internet for a lot of the time in the past couple of weeks, but in the past few days I seem to have come back full force!

Yes, I definetely do. I have been using internet for about 9 years now, and I can't do anything without internet after all. Before I met internet, I was really interested in computers and internet was one of the things that I wanted at home. I was too young to buy the things by myself as you can guess, but after all my father decided to have it. during those days, dial-up connection was very popular in my country. I mean, broadband connections was not available, even if they were they were for professionals like internetaional companies etc, nobody else were able to pay for that kind of services. Dial up connection was not a cheap one really, but really had a very bad performance. I used to connect to the internet at 28.8 Kbaud and it was very low, as you can guess I had a lot of problems when it came to downloading some files, and of course: it was simply impossible to download very large files (about 300 mb) even 100mb files took hours to download! Additionally, we used to pay for every second we were connected to the internet those days. If you use dial up here, it is still same (but it is not used as widely as it used to be). So, it was a total mess: pay much, and get low. those days my parents limited my connection to 1 hour everyday. I can't understand how I used to achieve that. It is simply very impossible for me now. However, even that limitation didn't stop me. I used to write down everything I was going to do when I get online that day, and tried to do many stuff in my limited time. But still, the phone bills were too high and my father was complaining about it all the time. A few years later, adsl came up and when we heard that opportunity, we were one of the first people who joined that service. I mean, it was up for a few years when we joined but it was a little more expensive. After all, they put a quota at 3gb and the prize was about 25$. It was really cheaper than dial up and we applied. After that time, my real addiction started. I started being online whole day, I don't shut down my computer when I am at home. I doN't shut down when I am eating, doing something else, playing guitar etc. because I know I will go back to my pc when it is over. I am online whenever I am at home after all! After a few months, the quota also started annoying us because as the technology improved, the sties and the files got bigger. We had a problem about exceeding the quote for a few hundred megabytes and paid extra for that. At last, we had the unlimited connection at home. Paying 10$more for that service but it is really much better to know you will never exceed your quota. The only problem was the connection speed. It was only 256kbps. but a few months later the telecommunication country heard all the customers' complaints and improved it to 1024kbps. I am quiet happy with my internet connection now. Happy mylotting flowerchilde :)

..I started out, on a web tv unit.. and you could only go to about 50% of the internet (or perhaps less!) but I still was pretty busy on web tv discussion groups, and also doing and writing my own stuff which I creatively learned how to store on the web tv unit, plus I designed my two websites I have, because Angelfire.com (now called Lycos, I guess) had templates.. then I learned html, still using my little web tv unit. Now I still am using my first computer.. one of the cheapest Dell Computers. And when it was on dial up, yes, I had some headaches too! But thank goodness I didn't get charged for the time! That wouldn't have worked very well! And then my local phone company offered DSL, so I went for that as soon as I heard about it, and it's much better! It says my speed is 100.0 mbps - and I have no idea what that is! Or why it's different from the kbps' but all seems to be going well.. I'm often on this thing all day, but others in the family use it later in the afternoon and in the evening.. which is a good thing, or I might turn to stone..! (Nah, I go outside a lot too!)

Lately, I've been spending a lot of time here. But, I found out that they are pretty much cutting the number of positions in my classification by half, so I'm at very serious risk of losing my job, or getting my hours cut way down. So, I've been looking at other ways to make money or I'm looking to change my career. So, I've been here longer than I usually am.
