Me and my bike - One form of my daily exercising routine during warm times here in MN.

Well it has finally arrived here in Minnesota. the warm air, the sunshine and especially the urge to get outside to do anything at all. I've had cabin fever for sometime and am just glad the warm days are here finally. So today I took Buster for a long walk then ate some lunch. I have just not returned from a 45 minute bike ride. Most of that time was fighting very strong headwinds of about 25MPH. So my legs sure got a owrkout today. I plan on biking a little each day as long as the weather cooperates that is. A light rain I can handle and a breeze is no problem. My bike is a Mountain bike with 15 gears so I can climb hills, ride a strong wind at my face and fly downhill without problems as I can shift to the needed gear to accomplish this without much work. Do you have a bike that you ride oputside? Do you have a stationary bike in the house? How do you get your daily exercise? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You gave me a thought and that's to buy a bike, ha ha My son is the only one that has a bike actually and yeah I think it would be a great idea to start sense the weather has been great... I mean here in Wisconsin it's been really nice, Even though today looked gloomy and I didn't want to go out, once I did I wished I would of gone out sooner... Riding a bike it's great exercise that's for sure!

that's ok I guess rain isn't all that bad, however just think we have all summer to ride so looking ahead it should be good... I am just hoping though we don't get those high temps like we did last year those were some days for sure, couldn't find relief anywhere and the water wasn't all that warm to swim in either at least not here!

If I get a bike carrier for the car I can then take the bikes when we visit my daughter. Then I can ride with the boys at their house. I had shorts and a summer shirt on today. It was great here. But geting back to the low 50's for highs and rain for a few days coming. So much for biking daily. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Grandma Julie here hello bob, I have been gone for awhile but am back strong. I do not have a bike but am getting one this spring along with my other half, but in the meantime I bought myself a crystal ball workout and that is a ball that you can do all your exercises using the ball, I use it all the time on the computer now and boy is it ever comfortable and it is a constant exercise all day long..I have lost 3 pounds in 4 days and am loving it.I will be walking here in minnesota over a mile a day when the weather decides to agree with me. besides my ball workout.

I wanted to try sone DVD type workout but with tending to dad I need to be upsatirs and not downstairs so I gave that idea up. I'll stick with biking and walking when I can for now. What part are you in? I forgot if you've mentioned it befoe. I am in C00n Rapids about 15 miles North of Minneapolis. Very close to Northtown Mall if you know the area. Cycling is really a very good workout. I am from India and practice a workout called as Yoga Asanas. Cycling is equivalent to practicing one full complete series of exercises which will rejuvenate the entire body when we do it on early mornings. I am not sure whether you will be able to do it early in the morning. But you can probably try it in the evening after your tea time. Its a real good workout.

have you tried working out early in the morning? Because working out during the day and early morning makes a lot of difference. Either early morning or in the late evening after tea and well before dinner...

I also use the stationary bikes at the casino helath club when I stay overnight. I keep telling my wife I want one for the house for fall and winter useage. It is a great form of working out. I love it to a point. But these winds really were bad trying to go headwind. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am a night owl and don't get to bed till after 3 a.m. so getting up early for a bike ride isn't going to happen. I may ride at night. It all depends when the utge hits me and depends on the weather as well. Thanks. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Just don't tell her I finally got some air in the tires and she won't push me to ride with her. I am fine alone. She can't keep up with me and she tires and runs out of breath before I do and I've got bronchial asthma and smoke. By the way, I am shocked at how much grandpa is starting to look like me. Glad you enjoyed your sprint outdoors! We keep our bikes in the cargo section of our travel trailer and ride when we go camping. It's a great way to get around the campground and gives us something to do when we get bored or restless :) Can't beat a little exercise on a bike outdoors in good weather. Sounds like you got a good workout today!

We have a 12 ft. cargo area on the 5th Wheel. It's great for storage and taking bikes and kayaks camping :) I plan to make this a dorm room when we get more grandkids..haha.

We have 5 bikes. My daughter loves bike riding & my husband is gewtt8ing into it. I am not that keen, mainly because after all these years, I have lost confidence in riding a bike. My husband has even bought one of those contraptions you join to the toe bar, so that he can transport three bikes at once. We are also having beautiful weather, so I dont blame you for doing all this bike riding. It is certainly a very healthy exercise.

I LOVE biking!! in fact its my main form of exercise in the summer..Its nothing for me to pack up a little backpack and go biking for a couple hours...sometimes I'll only do a 5mile ride but then there are times when I'll go as far as 25 miles (roundtrip)....

45 miles would be a bit too hardious for me at the mo as I have no bike at all ! I have been thinking of getting one but that is as far as I have got. A good walk is my exercise as it clears the mind and keeps me slightly fit for the next walk. Have a great cycle ride from Deeeky.

HAH! Reread it. It's 45 minutes not 45 miles. I'd have had to pedal at 60 MPH for that to happen. HAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDAP BOB !!~

That's great GrandPa, it's like hitting two birds in one stone.. I love biking as well, the best experience I had was when me and my friends took a bike ride up a hill. It was fun, exciting and worth the trip. We get to see the fascinating view of the city from up above, which lessen the stress we felt when climbing up. I enjoyed every moment in it, plus I also get to workout my legs.. The only exercise I am into right now is, playing basketball. I get to work out my stamina and whole body at the same time, it's a good way to keep my blood circulating and flowing steadily..

Yeah I had a steep hill that was easy going down but riding up with the wind in my face I made it half way then had to walk the bike as it was too much too soon for me this spring. Glad you enjoy biking. I want to transport the bikes to a local bike trail but need to get a carrier for the car for that. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

We're a group, it'll take more than two hours if we're going to use a car or vehicle so we just took off from our place and made the top as we also took the bike since it's very steep and hard for us to ascend as well.. Going down is the best part, we descended very fast and went pass through other vehicles.

I don't have a bike that I ride outside but my daughter has a ten speed. I do have an exercise bike in my house to use and need to make some time to get on it. I am always too busy working or doing other things every day. I am trying to make time for it but it just seems to be impossible most of the time. I lack motivation also but now that summer is here, I think I will feel like doing more.

I bought two of these bikes at WalMart for only $70 each actually. They are not costly. But you do need to keep them in good shape as well to get the best use from them. My motivation is my gut actually. I need to get it slimmer than it is right now. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Wow! Biking in strong winds. That's one thing I like to avoid if possible. lol I have a moutain bike that is 15yrs. old and still works great. It has, I think, 18 gears but I rarely use them all. I'll be getting my bike out of storage b4 long cause I use it to do my 2 foot routes in the warm months unless it's raining out. Can't get the papers wet, ya know. lol My daughter and I have also started biking into town during the day for her karate lessons and softball. We started doing this last year and will do it again this year. Nothing like good, healthful exercise for the body and soul. Not to mention the gas tank. lol

I had a bike route for papers when I was a kid and got wet all too often. I rode to the Nture center than back home. Then about a 5 mile ride around the neighborhood I'd say. The wind was the hardest thing today while riding. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi GRANDPA BOB! Wow, 15 gears?! Mountain bikes cost a lot here especially ones with 15 gears. I think it is around 150,000 to 200,000 pesos here which is $3750 to $4878 if I will translate or convert it to your currency. Biking is a very good exercise especially for the heart. I do have my exercise, I watch aerobics in my dvd. I do have a treadmill though. Take care and have a nice day!

Dang that is the cost of a used car here in the States. They can run upwards of that here as well for the Italian Imported fanch ones. Most run about $300 though for a really good one. HAPPY POSYINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I dont have a stationery bike but my son whois almost fifty bikes back and forth to work and every once in awhile he takes off on explorations with his bike. I need a stationery bike so I can get some exercise in spite of my handicaps and get some weight off my body. too muchsitting in front of the computer typing on mylot. Iused to have a staionery bike and we decided to ditch it and get me a new one after we had moved here but that has never happened yet. right now my exercise is limited to this I lift my little finger up and down saying exercise I have to have my exercise then the next one and so on. my son says thats not exercise. my hubby used tolaugh at me when I did that. butafter my hideous fall and the smashed shoulder bones and the resulting surgery that made me a bionic woman I have very limited use of my left arm so I get sort of lazy as I am so afraid of another fall. but I do need some exercise and a stationery bike would do wonders.

How far does he bike to work? That's me as well. Sitting on my keister isn't a good nor healthy activity. Does the body good is not a phrase that fots there. I want one of those new computerized bikes that has a variety of types of trails and all. heart rate monitor as well as calorie burner read out etc. A good one is over $1,000 though. I have no idea what oputside means. I never knew how to ride a bike all my life, and I am afraid to learn now. I used to have a stationery bike but it broke. But guess what birds are singing here in Montreal, spring has finally sprung.

My partner is thinking of buying a bicycle, he used to spend hours on his bike when he was younger but now he wants to use a bike to get to work and back. He says he could use the exercise too, and although I agree, I would not be able to ride a bike as my poor old legs couldn't cope with it. :-)
