I have a boy cat. He has this annoying thing he does every night. He howls and goes on and on Its so loud and disturbing to my sleep sometimes I have to put him in the bathroom. during the day when I am awake he just sleeps. I used to think this behavior was cause by him wanting more of my attention, but I recently took a break from work and am home all the time. It seems its getting worse. Does anyone no what could be causing this behavior?

It sounds like he is sexually mature and ready to rumble with the girls outside. I would have him neutered and keep him inside. Cats who are indoor/outdoor or outside cats are subject to heath problems, abuse from people, predators, and cars. They are much safer inside so that you can form a relationship with you. Once outside they really do not want to come in under your terms, only theirs.

Thank you Zydecokitten I agree I would be pretty nervous to let him roam around out here. Just the traffic scares me. I bet your right he is my first cat. My mom and sister are allergic so I always had dogs. Thanks everyone that posted a reply If anyone has other helpful hints about whats in store for me with a boy cat I'd really appreciate it.

The other poster is right, if you don't do it soon he may start spraying. That is a very bad thing. You can never be sure he won't spray but if you can netuer him early it is best. Good luck

He probably needs some active playtime, as he's probably bored and lonely. I would try getting him so tired from playing that he goes to sleep when you do. My Columbus cat used to cry and howl, but I was too tired to get out of bed to play with him, so I ignored him as I prayed for him to stop. But then I gave him some regular playtime and he's stopped all of that noise since then.

He always does, and starts getting lively just as I am about to hop in bed. So I take out the string toy and let him leap after it for a few minutes. He's nearly 12 years old and tires sooner rather than later. Then he'll jump back on the bed and basically sleep all night.

Ah I will try that today before going to bed. It seems as though he is on the opposite sleep schedule as me because no I am home during the day but he sleeps a lot of the time. He has a lot of toy's but is not into many of them he does like one however so I will put in sometime wearing him out today. =) Sounds like your cat had similar issues. Did your cat sleep during the day too?

He's calling for a female cat at my guess. You need to neuter him in my opinion. My cat did the same thing until I got him fixed. Now he doesn't howl or whine. I am sure it's because his hormones were running rampant and he just wanted a girl cat lol.

Maybe he wants out...How Old is He? Has he been Neutered? My furball turned up on my doorstep as a stray kitten, and wasn't out of the house for several months after he'd been Neutered..the funny thing was,the first vet We took him to said "He" was Female! He was never a Yowler,though..He's a fairly quiet little cat, with a big purr..He'll vocalise to let me know He wants out,or fed,but nothing that'd keep Me awake nights..

Thank you ShepherdSpy No my Yogi has not been Neutered. I don't let him outside yet because of that reason. However he slept through the night just fine at my old house. I am planning on getting him Neutered soon. I'm still unsure if I want him to be an indoor outdoor cat however because of the busy streets near by.

Have you moved home recently? This has been the furball's only home since a kitten, with the exception of the cattery I leave him with when I go on Holiday..and He doesn't like the Cattery-I swear there was Shock on his face as I walked away the first time I left him there!

My cat sometimes squawks at night also. I can usually attribute it to a cause like he wants a snack or doesn't think the litter pan is clean enough etc. t is annoying, but once I get up and pay him some attention he usually calms down. My cat is a neutered male about 8 years old.

Im guessing hes not fixed. You should prolly get him fixed and I bet that would solve the problem. If he is fixed then I got nothing. Sorry

i think that he wants ur full attention or he doesn't want to left alone in the dark...I think u should put him on your room and light him up. I think too that he's afraid in the dark so he really needs light....
