I find that sometimes this site is slow, I think when there are many users on at the same time that it just slows down a bit. It gets on my nerves when that happens too.

Trouble is that it is when I am posting, responding, or making a comment. Now that it is warmer, I do not want to sit at the computer and since my husband is on the other one sometimes, I can only write on myLot when it is quiet and when my mind is racing I want to write as fast as I can. It is frustrating when I have to watch it load very slowly.

We upgraded our cable to Xtreme, (My husband downloads radio plays. He plans to get everyone in existence) but myLot is still slow. I am rather upset, because I am going out again tonight, and I wanted to start more discussions and answer more posts.

It may depend on what time zone you are in. You just say you live in the States, but have not put down whereabouts. I might be slow in the Central or Eastern time zone but very fast in the Pacific time zones when you are one.

So why does myLot have it in for us Central Timers? We are supposed to be fast, you know, prairies and plains, all that flat land, no major obstacle in between.

Well it is Saturday and usually on Saturday it is faster, but I do not want to just work myLot on Saturdays, I myLot every day. Most of the time I am on in the morning until ten and a little on the afternoon, and hardly on in the evening. So it seems the times that I am on, are the worse times and the times when myLot is the slowest.

I live in Manitoba in the Central Time Zone, and we just got extreme cable and that did not help. I cannot see what state you live in so unless you live in Rhode Island or Delaware where everyone knows each other, I have no idea whether they have a faster connection for mylot or whether you live in the same city that the myLot web site originates. Most of the places are quite fast, myLot being the exception.

When something like this happens I would begin to suspect some malware might be taking over your computer. A good course of action would be to have an anti-virus software do a complete scan of your computer. I did this a couple of days ago and my avg antivir found 15 threats whereupon my computer went back to its normal speed.

It is just slow for mylot. The other sites come in fast, so if it were a virus or a malware it would be affecting all the internet, not just one site. I do have the anti virus running automatically and it is updated automatically. So it is not that. I think it could be that myLot is slow at that time.

Since this discussion is three months old, I hope that the site has gotten faster for you, now. I found it to be so slow posting in mylot back then, too. I think it was because they just did an upgrade and the site was so busy that it slowed it down a lot. But now that the kinks have been worked out I find that mylot is back to normal and quicker to post. But sometimes it is still slow and I think it is because there are a lot of members on at the same time as me. But I think mylot has a handle on it and may be trying to fix it.

It was slow this morning, and still is in a way. It has not improved. It could not be because most of the members are on the Central Time Zone, is it? After all we have decent rates here in the Prairies, and no mountains to block our reception. So why is it not fast all the time unless most of us are working from home.
It does slow down after I post comment and then I have to wait and wait.

This often happens when there is an increase of traffic at a site because the server can only deal with a certain volume of data per second. If a site slows down and you are not sure whether it is the site or your system, then simply go to another site to check if it loads quicker.

I do that. It is myLot. The other sites are just as fast, but then I have not checked to see where the site originated from. I live in the Central time zone, and myLot originated in the Eastern Time Zone so it could be that all of us are on myLot more than anyone else in the whole wide world or there are a lot of people who get on at midnight and past in the opposite time zones and there is a congestion there.

I do not want to do it, because we have two computers attached to it.

Yesterday my PC was very slow not just on myLot but all sites so I perfomed a "disk cleanup" and that really helped a lot.

The only thing that my computer is slow is when I am on myLot and that happens even if I clean out my cache. If it were because it was slow all the time, I would have mentioned it. I notice that when other sites are slow, they say "we will close down the site until we find a faster server" or "we are increasing the band width." I have a fast computer, and now I have extreme, faster connection. I should not have to clean out my cookies too just for myLot if doing that does not work.

I have had a bit of sluggishness here in mylot for the past 2 hours. It just may be mylots problem and not your computer. If it has been only happening since you got the new router I would suspect a problem with that. I don't know too much more than that...Heck I am almost computer illiterate..lol
Blessed be, Mari

I think it is myLot's. We did upgrade our cable to extreme because my husband downloads a lot of radio plays, but myLot was still slow. Every other site is fast, except for the ones that they are working on or have gone offline. I find it very upsetting because it makes it hard to reach my daily goals without having to give something up like housework, cooking, laundry, taking a nap. writing on my novel, going for a walk.etc.

I'm not having any trouble with it, and I've never had any trouble with it! Mine is just as fast as all my other programs!

My other programs are fast. It is just myLot that is the problem. I have no idea, I have way enough space on my hard drive, if that is the problem. It could be that my computer is just a Pentium 4 but that could not just be it. I think it is by some coincidence that a lot of those in the Central and Eastern time zones are on in the mornings and are off in the late evenings.

It may be for you, but it has been sometime since I first started this discussion and during that time, we upgraded our cable to extreme, and myLot is still slow. In fact the only time it is fast enough is early in the am and late at night after ten, and by that time I am getting ready for bed. So should I stay awake from midnight on and sleep during the day to get myLot on faster? Does not make any sense for them to accommodate those in other places but we who are on Central time get the shaft.

I clear out the cache frequently and even when I do that, it does not speed it up all that much. All the clearing cache is make the documents I have or Word or the stuff I have on my hard drive load faster. It does nothing for myLot, since I am not the web master of myLot. It is on some other server.

I have noticed a slowdown on some sites, including this one, for the past couple of days. I think that it is just the usual server-clogging heavy traffic.
MSN has that problem frequently when their traffic is heavier than usual or they try to run maintenance during the daytime hours. It always gets back to normal after a while.
I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets slow for you over a few days period.

It is slower most of the time. I hope it is not our new wireless router or my isp trying to find out what I am writing about here.

I just hope they are not slowing the internet in order to force us to buy the super doper extra fast, disappears at the blink of an eye faster speed connection.

I'm not sure what it is. I just think that Mylot is busy at certain times of the day. Some days Mylot loads very fats for me and other times not. It seems to be loading okay for me right now though. I have lovely dialup connection so all of my sites usually load slower than other people who have a better connection.

I have extreme cable and myLot seems to be the only site that loads slow and still loads. When the other sites are slow, I know that they are working on it, and have taken it off. I do not like to be forced to be on myLot at a certain time of day and I do not stay up at two am in the morning in case that is the fast time. I used to load a lot of tabs, but do not anymore. I hope they will speed up, it would help a lot.

That's nice to know. I did think it was my computer, and I wanted to get more done on myLot. I wonder if it is because I am on it in the morning.

There are times that I also experience this sluggishness but most of the time its just fine. I presume, too many are just accessing this site in my area at that particular time. What I do is I turn off images for awhile, images will appear small bordered squares, this will considerably increase loading of pages. I will turn image ON only when I realy need to see the picture or when I notice the speed has normalize.

It could be that you are in a different time zone then me. I am on Central, and it could be that there are many on at the time I am on. However, that should not be an issue. If myLot has members all over the world, it should make it easier for anyone to load faster at any time of day, not just speed it up for someone in Asia, but for another group in America make sure the only time the pages load fast is after midnight. I do not bother with turning on or off the graphics, because usually I have to see the picture.
