There are events and experiences we have gone through in life and there are things we don't want to remember, right? As for me, I can't think of anything I don't want to remember. Sad or happy, I know they have become part of my life and had made me better. What about you?

Of course there are phases in life that we want to forget and that includes people that has been part of that phase. But I know I cant just avoid those ghosts from the past, one way or another something or someone will reminds such things. I just always think that because of it and because of them, I am a better person now with so great outlook in life. Because of that phase, I learn to handle carefully my present and so as well my future.

Hi jeanniemay! yes, i do agree with that. I have sad and happy moments in life and I remember them well, even the painful ones. They are all a part of me and have made me who I am. I learned from all, the good and the bad times in my life. It made me stronger and somehow wiser. Just my thoughts. Take care and have a nice day!

there are some things (or a lot) that has happened to me, and it would be better if i don't remember it at all. it just depresses me when i think about it. but i guess the reason why i can't take it out of my mind is because it serves as a reminder and gave me a lesson back them.

Excellent conversation piece. Yes there are things I would not want to forget and things I would love to forget. I think I have forgotton a lot and that is why I wish I had kept a diary like many others do. Do you keep a diary?

I don't keep a diary my friend but I am now using blogs to journal my positive or even negative experiences and how it affects me and what I learned from it. It surely helps. Sometimes, I even share them here at mylot.

There are plenty of things I don't want to remember. If I find myself thinking about them I force myself to stop. I try not to think about past event and to focus on what is happening in my life now and what I want to happen in future. I don't even want to spend too much time on good memories, as they can make the past seem better than the present. It is not possible to live in the past, so it should not be always in your thoughts. It is good to have something you can look back on with pride, or joy or happiness but it is better not to do it all the time and to look forward rather than back.

hi jeanniemay.... nice topic...^_^ good or bad things happening to us are part of what we called EXPERIENCES its important to remember it LEARN from it and be a BETTER person from it. since our birth we learn by experience and by the teachings of people around us. Our body even unconsciously is learning from experience. if you place your finger on a candle or any hot surface it automatically reacts by moving away from it because its hot... so what if we cannot remember from our good or bad experience...its really bad thing... you may get burnt fingers if your body didn't react as it should do so...^_^ bdw, it reminds me of the story of the ugly duckling...from ugly duckling and later turned into a beautiful swan...do you think the success would be sweet if no sad memories for the swan? so same here in our life...so sweet are for those successful people when remember how they succeed in life from their humble beginnings... SMILE ALWAYS...^_^

My ex husband became schizophrenic, and we went through a very, very terrible time. There are parts of that time that I don't remember anymore because they were just too painful.

yes, I would rather forget my experiences that I had from grades 7 and 9. I also would love to forget about experiencing post partum depression after having my daughter when I should have been jumping for joy.

I have had many negative experiences in my life and I wish that they had not happened, but there isn't anything I can do to change them. All I can do is either let them weigh on me or use them to my advantage. For example having watched some of the behaviours my parents chose made me vow not to follow in their footsteps.

There are bad experiences in our past that we would like to erase from our memories. But as much as we would like to erase it from our minds, it will still haunt us. The best way is to have a sense of acceptance so that we could move on the present.

of course the that make me felt sad and down. i don't want to remember that anymore although i learned from that but still i don't like that it will flash back to my mind and make me felt down again. i am more on what today and tomorrow no time for past.
