Are Plastic Water Bottles and Containers harmful to your health?

Three of Canada's major retailers are pulling plastic water bottles and baby bottles off the shelves because they contain a controversial chemical Bisphenol A. This is in anticipation of Health Canada (a Governmental Agency) declaring it a dangerous substance. If Health Canada decides this it will be the first regulatory body in the world to do so. Well as far as I know, water bottles are really harmful to once health... This is because I once heard in the news that storing and reusing water bottles to store water at home and keeping it cool in your fridge can be a main cause of cancer and after my family saw that on TV my mom prevented us from using/ storing water bottles on our fridge.. well I guess the main reason for this is due to the chemical compounds that are used in making water bottles. So if I were you, I would start throwing away those bottles just to be on the safe side.. ^_^

Well, my son and wife convinced me months ago not to store water in plastic bottles in the fridg or buy water in bottles. I draw the water from the tap and let it stand for a while, then I put it in the fridg in a glass jug but I still buy some in bottles to take with me when I go somewhere like into town or for a long walk. I guess I will have to find another container.

I know that they are recalls on baby items that are made of plastic but I am not sure about adult beverages that come in plastic containers. I bet it isn't good Ifor us either but the FDA hasn't said anything about it that I know of.

Wow this is major and the first time that I heard that plastic bottles are dangerous, I knew it was dangerous to microwave them and dangerous for cats to eat out of they get poisoned but I didn't know they were dangerous to humans too. Thanks for telling me and hurray for our country to make a brave step for good health.

Yes, I do. I read about that in the news as well. I am not sure if I am overly concerned yet. At some point or other we're finding out that every single thing we do is dangerous in some way. THe things that they used to encourage us to do are now not good anymore. This.. and that.. and that more...Each day they find something new. SOmetimes studies are done and when the results come back then another study comes along proving exactly the opposite. Back home water used to be sold in glass bottles. They, of course, have the danger of breaking which is not pretty either. For now , I"m still reserving my opinion on this one. If we think about it, the pipes can be a problem too, and even the new ones now I"m sure something will come out saying that they're dangerous too in time. So, hey... we're living dangerously that's all hehehehehe
