I had posted a few days back about a family that had left their beloved black lab, Callie, at a kennel over night and when they went to pick her up they received the wrong dog. Here's the link to that discussion:

After searching around the 'Net a bit today I finally found out that the family now has their much loved pet back home with them. It turns out that one of the people that had had her dog their at the same time had ended up with Callie, but she swore up and down to the kennel owner that she had the right dog. Here's the link to the news article:

I bet Callie and the other lab are very happy to be reunited with their families....I know I would be! Hugs to all....Carryl

What I don't get is how someone wouldn't know their own dog!
Everyone of my cats has their own distinct personality and their own way of acting. Maybe Callie thought she was being given to this other person. I guess dogs are different because my cats would never stand for going to a strange home. When I had to put them in the kennel about 4 years ago, Scrapper was so depressed that he wouldn't eat and we finally had to put canned food on his paws to get him to eat again. Cinnamon was so home sick that her little personality began to change and Cuddles began to pull her fur out. And, every time I visited them, they perked up the minute they heard my voice.
There were other cats in the kennel that had been dumped there and their owners never came to see them. I don't know how someone could be so cruel. I was heartbroken to be separated from my babies. I'm so glad to have them with me again and be able to love on them every day. I miss them even when I'm at work and love my one day off a week so I can have special time with them.
Duchess is my little alarm clock and wakes me up when I sleep through the alarm - like yesterday. She's such a cutie and I can't wait until I get home and can give them all a big kiss.
Gotta go...

That's exactly how I feel. How that other woman couldn't have known the difference with the dog she brought home is beyond me. My poor Meg when I had to leave her just overnight at the vet because she was sick was so down in the dumps while she was there that she wouldn't eat until I came to pick her up. I would be lost without my babies, that's for sure. Thanks so much hon.

That really sounds very weird.
Surely you would think the dog would respond differently to a different person than its owner. Not only that, but if you called it by the wrong name it wouldn't come.
It's good that they finally got the right dogs back though.
It makes me wonder whether the other woman was just hoping she could keep 'callie' for some reason... perhaps callie has a nicer temperament.

I've never had a dog before, but I surely know from experience that Dogs do have a very strange behavior towards strangers.. Dunno how that dog got along with a completely strange family for 22 days..

I am so happy that they got their Dog back
It should never have happened and I hope something like this never happens again
I would be devasted if this happened with Gissi, but I think they would bring him back straight away
as he would certainly make waves
