If you play the game, monopoly, is there a piece that you always have to be?

LOL gemini_rose, I really like this discussion topic. I used to be a fanatic about the game Monopoly, and my mates and I would always be fighting to take the "car" or the "shoe", don't know why. That's because when we played, right, these 2 figurines would always end up as the winning streak, ha! It has been a really long time since I played this game, and I wish to play it again with my mates. It is hard now, because our working schedules are all clashing and the time that I get to spend with mylot is during my working time, , so I suppose I'll spend more time in mylot then, rather than monopoly.

my hubby collects monopoly so we have a lot of different games (like the nhl one and the .com one and some really old ones and he even had a chocolate one...now that one was fun!) but the one that i want to get is the peanuts character one and when i get that one...i will HAVE to be snoopy!

I don't mind picking up anything as long as i am playing and winning. I don't know what version u are takling about here , in india u have the version of properties and hotels and you play with fake money. You can buy those properties and build your own hotels with that money. We also have a bank which supplies you a loan if you wish to have one. Its been a long time since i played monopoly. I wish my cousins and i could get together someday and play this game. Its really good fun. ~pinks~

I prefer to be the dog too. But that's because I like to be obnoxious and bark at the other players while I'm going around the board. I think intimidation tactics make the game more fun. lol. I don't care for the different versions either. It's got to be the classic game. Although, I did play the game on the computer when I was a kid, and thought it was funny that the pieces sounded like a chicken bawking as they went around the board. My cousin, my little brother and I used to play when we were kids. For some reason I was always the banker, and of course, would distract them so I could nip money from the till. They never caught on, but hated that I always won. Of course, that's nothing compared to when we'd play Life. For some reason, I'd end up with a double-decker bus (two cars perched on top of each other) with 8 kids, and my cousin and I would start making up nasty stories about how we ended up in our position in life.

I'm not sure why I always picked the thimble but I did. Maybe it was because I knew no one else would pick it out of my family, so I wouldn't have to worry about fighting with someone to get it. I loved playing monopoly with my little brothers. It was always a joy to play, well until someone started complaining about whatever, then that just ruins the fun. I wish I could still play it now, but it's just me and my husband and well he doesn't really like the game and its only two, its not really fun with just two players. I've never played any other version but the original. I didn't care too much for the other ones. I figured it was just stupid, they're all the same just different names so why spend more money for another version when the original is cheaper.

You cant be the dog Rose...im the dog!!!!...you can be the boot!!!..lolol...i was always the dog....as a child we used to play family Monopoly on a sunday afternoon...but oh dear..my father used to take it deadly serious..he thought he was working for thr Financial times....and he wanted to be banker all the time...then he sulked if he didnt win...and it was a nightmare!!!!!! Now my daughter and her family play it..and lol..history repeats..my grandaughter thinks she has to win!!!!! Do you remeber they brought out Totopolly???..it was a horse racing game.... we had that too...but i cant remember how that game went at all!!!

Fun discussion! When I was young and enjoyed this game I would take the hat or shoe. Not certain why I did this though. Haven't played the game since my kids were young.

Lol when I used to play it that is what I always was to actually my Daughter and I used to argue over the Dog lol and then she would say to me 'Mum grow up and let me have the Dog you are suppose to be the Adult ( she was 14 at the time) the cheek of it My Son just used to sit there and after 10 minutes he used to say when you 2 have finished could we please start the Game and I mean today not tomorrow

I have never liked this game but then again im a spoiled brat I dont like losing. When id play with my brother I always started with boardwalk and park place or I wouldnt play I was awful. Now I am different with my kids but will not play momopoly for some reason.

I have only played Monopoly a couple times in my whole life. I never did really like the game at all. I would always lose my money too. I really didn't care which game piece I was LOL.

I love playing monopoly, it is a great game for all of the family and friends. I like the American version of monopoly it comes in a flash box, and the rich blue properties are called BoardWalk and ParkPlace, I loved owning them, I felt like a celeb in my imaginary world, lol. The piece that I usually like to use if noone steals it first is the money bag, I think if I use that piece that I am going to get lots of money, he he. My step dad had to have the hat, he would get so annoyed and chuck tantys lol, if he did not get the hat. Good discussion topic!!

I always wanted the iron and usually won if I got it but then my hubby and my son would get all miffed cause mom won allthe time. my the male ego is something to behold isn't it?I like the old original one myself. much more fun.

Haha, it's funny, I'm just like you. I MUST be the dog in order to even ATTEMPT to play monopoly! I used to argue over it with my cousins, I even resorted to using reverse pyshcology in order to get my way. I haven't played the game in a couple of years, but I'm sure I'll get back into those types of games once my son gets old enough.

I always have to be the Car. For some reason this is the piece I have loved to be since I played this game when I was a teenager. I do not play the game anymore though as it is not as Fun with just 2 people. But would Love to have a couple people to play a good game of Monopoly again with.

Yes me too, I love that little dog, he is my favorite he reminds me of my dog. So I always take that if I can, if it is taken first I don't sulk I usually go for the thimble or the hat but I love the dog.

I haven't played monopoly in a while but I always like just the classic one. my favorite game piece that I always choose is the car. ever since I was little I always choose that one. I use to play online a lot but haven't in a while.. maybe I'll try to find a site that has it and play..sounds like fun :)

Hello, gemini_rose, how are you doing? I love Monopoly as well! It's one of the best board games, right? No, I don't have to be a certain piece to play the game. It's interesting, and I love how there is so many different versions. I have the OSU version, hehehehe. I think I have the monopoly game on floppy disk (somewhere in my storage)! I used to play the computer version a lot because it was easier to do, and it was installed on my computer at one time. Pablo

I liked to be the top hat. I have no idea why but that was the piece I always chose. Maybe its because no one else wanted to be it. lol. But I only liked playing as long as I was winning. I have always hated playing games when I lose because the winning person had to rub it in. I hate that and to this day I dont play games for that reason. lol

I really like playing this game in the classic one i like being the horse but i will play if i cant be it. The other ones i havent played but i would like to get my hands on the electronic monopoly.
