Why do not Politician recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the Citizens

Fellow countrymen and women I have a question why should our children pledge allegiance to the government when the politician do not pledge allegiance to us. This hit me the other day while I was on a business trip. Children at school recite the Pledge of Allegiance, but why? It is not our duty pledge allegiance to the government. We are above the government, so the government so pledge allegiance to us. Am I missing something here?

No, you are not missing anything. You have pointed out something the rest of us have mostly forgot. Respect is a two way street. All our candidates for President have given little indicators that they have forgot this in a major way. It is time for our candidates who would be President to show us some respect. I am guessing that if one of the major candidates picks up on your idea and publically recites a pledge of allegiance to the American voter of his/her own orginal composition that candidate will win the election. Maybe we here at myLot could come up with such a pledge and ask all the candidates to make the pledge! Any ideas what it should cover?

Those 2 are an excellant start. I believe I can make a whole lot of people mad by pointing out that all 3 of the major candidates break number 1. All of them do so regularily, egregiously, unashamedly, and blatantly. Yes, I mean all 3 of them, both the dumbocrats and the retardican. Number 2 is almost as good as your number 1. No less a patroit than George Washington warned of the dangers of political parties and the problem of people putting party ahead of country. #3. How about promising to put American citizens ahead of illegal immigrants? What's next? Who else?

I do not know the word but I should be something that acknowledge who is boss. Sometime I fell we are electing our boss instead of a representative.

We don't Pledge Allegiance to our government, we pledge allegiance to our flag and to our country, which you're right, is us, the people. We can disagree with our government and still pledge allegiance to our flag. You're right, it is a government supposedly "of the people and for the people" but these days you'd never know that. Annie

The sincerity of such a gesture would be unprovable. It would be just as much an indicator of a qualified candidate as (for example) a flag lapel pin.

His loyalty to this country has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not he pins a piece of metal to his lapel.

Funny you said that, Obama refuses to wear one. So where does he stand in being loyal to this country?

When I was in school we had to do that every day. I often wondered why we were pledging our loyalty to a flag. The people who are running for the office of president aren't going to pledge their loyalty to our country nor to any of the people. To do so would just show what liars they really are. Their loyalty lies with the rich owners of the Federal Reserve Banks. These are the true rulers of our country. They control all monies, including gold and oil. And money is what controls the world. How can they pledge allegiance to the people when they know the truth and refuse to do anything about it. Andrew Jackson fought these banks during his years as president and won. He and J.F.Kennedy are the only presidents who tried to keep our country free of these wealthy and controlling men. See what happened to J.F.K ? I no longer say the pledge of allegiance nor do I care to pledge my loyalty to a country that bows down to these thieves and forsakes the people who are legal citizens of this country. It's hard to believe but our government has killed and/or put people in prison for not paying an "income tax" that is voluntary and not even legal, just because these wealthy bank owner said that they should give up their money to them so they could loan it to the country at an interest that the USA will never be able to pay back. Our national debt rises every second of every day. If at anytime we find a person who runs for president that would be loyal to the people of this country, they would have to live in an armor tank 24/7
